Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control

- The post holder reports directly to the Associate Director of Nursing, Clinical Safety and Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control
- The post holder will have a key role in the planning, provision and promotion of a comprehensive IPC Service for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
- Working alongside the senior nursing team to co-ordinate and develop a quality infection prevention and control service providing leadership, support and guidance to all trust staff and ensuring a patient focussed service whilst managing the IPC Team.
- Will support the development and lead the delivery of Trust wide projects, plans and policies that support the infection prevention and control strategy.
- To provide advice and professional leadership to senior leaders within the Organisation in relation to issues of infection prevention and control.
- Key role in shaping, planning and delivering high quality, innovative, patient and staff focused projects and work streams to support the delivery of safe and effective care.
Work in collaboration with clinical and non-clinical teams both internally and externally to provide expert advice in all matters related to infection, prevention and control prioritising patient and staff safety.
Advise on the management of patients with communicable disease in accordance with the current evidence base, specifically the IPC Manual for England and statutory requirements.
To support regular analysis and interpretation of complex data relating to infection prevention and control and using this data to inform practice, education and innovative quality improvements.
As part of the quality senior team, lead and participate in the implementation of the IPC strategy, assurance framework and both local and regional improvement plans.
Alongside the Associate Director of Nursing, undertake a review of infection prevention and control service delivery and support production of the annual Director of Infection Prevention and Control report. Supporting to ensure the application of best-practice, national guidance and local policy to provide safe and effective patient care.
The post holder will work with the Associate Director of Nursing to ensure that systems and processes are in place to support ongoing compliance with CQC and other relevant regulatory bodies.
The post holder will plan and lead meetings where appropriate. Assisting in the management of outbreaks of infection and contribute to the production of reports and identification of learning and actions. Co-ordinate and provide leadership and subject matter expertise in outbreak meetings, identifying key actions and ensuring that they are completed.

- Professional Nursing or Midwifery qualification at Level 6
- Experience at Senior Level
- Masters level qualification or evidence working towards/evidence of equivalent knowledge and experience to masters level
- Understanding of IPC practice
- Experience of working in an IPC team
- IPC in the Built Environment
- Project Management
- Experience of leading a team
- Experience of Project Management
- Leadership qualification
- Experience of producing reports
- Understanding of infection prevention and control in varying healthcare systems
- Understanding of the National IPC manual for England
- Experience of interpreting data
- Flexibility in approach to working.
- Experience of managing staff and systems of work
