**Job Description**:
**You may be involved in following tasks, as part of your day to day responsibilities**:

- Developing and implementing efficient partitioning strategies to improve performance and manage large volumes of data.
- Monitoring and optimising database performance, including query tuning, index optimisation, and system resource utilisation.
- Ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of the PostgreSQL database systems.
- Collaborating with development teams to design and implement database schemas and models.
- Performing database backups, recovery, and disaster planning to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data inconsistencies.
- Conducting regular database capacity planning and provide recommendations for hardware and infrastructure upgrades.
- Staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in PostgreSQL database technology and propose innovative solutions to improve database performance and scalability.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

**Qualifications**:
Essential Skills and qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification, in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, preferably in the rail industry or a similar domain.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database management, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Experience with database partitioning techniques and best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL and query optimization.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL monitoring and management tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with other database systems like Oracle or MySQL.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and tools.
- Familiarity with rail industry data models and regulations.
