**Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship**:
**Mayfield School** is recruiting for an enthusiastic and passionate Intervention Assistant / Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join their school family.**:
The post of Intervention Assistant Apprentice involves working as a member of a dedicated team to meet the Special Educational Needs of students within Mayfield School.
All Intervention Apprentices are allocated to students with statements of special educational needs and those on the Inclusion Register. You will liaise daily with the Intervention Assistant Coordinator. They follow a timetable which is organised by the Inclusion Faculty. Changes can be made to the timetables during the year to ensure the most effective support for students as possible.
**Responsibilities**:
Supporting identified students with their individual personal and social needs across the curriculum including:
- Helping with reading, spelling, language, understanding, numeracy, physical tasks and mobility around the School and being first point of contact for personal hygiene issues.
- Helping them develop study within organisational skills.
- Helping to reinforce learning.
- Helping to keep the student on task and build motivation.
- Accompanying students to lunch.
- Liaising closely with the Inclusion Coordinator, SENCo/Inclusion Manager, Support Teachers and Class Teachers regarding students’ individual needs.
- Undertaking assessments.
- Contributing to progress reports for students’ IEPs (Individual Education Plans).
- Assisting in internal and external assessments as a reader/amanuensis for identified students.
- Supervising Homework Club during lunchtime on a rota basis.
- To escort a student to hospital in an emergency at the discretion of the Intervention Assistant Coordinator.
- To support students with the LEXIA programme.
- To undertake any training applicable to the role, as directed by the school.
- To be a trained First Aider.
- To review and develop your own professional practice, including taking part in annual performance review.
Whilst every effort has been made to cover the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified.
**SAFEGUARDING**
- To be aware of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and to report any concerns in accordance with Mayfield’s Safeguarding/Child Protection policies.
- To undertake compulsory Child Protection/PREVENT Training as directed by the school.

**Training to be provided**
Training for this qualification will be provided by ourselves at SCCU Group, an Ofsted good training provider. Our tuition is all delivered in the workplace and bespoke to your particular role.
- Support in Teaching & Learning Level 3 Standard, 18 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period.
- Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (if required).
**Working Week**:
- Monday to Friday - 30 hours per week (Term Time Only).
- 8.15am - 3.00pm & 3.15-3.45 x3 days (30 min clubs).
- 8:15am - 3.00pm x2 days.
- (Includes unpaid school breaks - 20 mins morning break, 45 mins lunch break & 15 min break on 3 days of clubs).
**Wage**:£18,520 pro rata per annum.
