You will be passionately committed to the environment, naturally identify potential risks and opportunities, and importantly work effectively within teams to get things done. Your development is important to us, so we support further training to meet your needs and job requirements to allow you to flourish.
You’ll work closely with our Water, Land and Biodiversity teams within the East or West Midlands and support our National teams as we deliver relevant policy and processes. You will also help deliver our strategic plans, which includes how we connect with catchment-based groups.
The Water Quality Specialist role will work with water companies and internal teams to reduce the impacts from sewage discharges and other nutrient emissions into the environment. Collaboratively this role will focus on:

- Water company strategic plans, price review and asset management plans
- Sewage treatment works and sewerage network processes
- Measures to protect the water quality of diffuse pollution sources
- Responding to water quality permit consultations
- Supporting local and national working groups and projects, this includes our work with catchment-based groups and river partnerships
- Responding to planning and development consultations
- The team- The East & West Midlands Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) teams are two teams of technical experts specialising in water quality, water resources and catchment planning. Working with Area operational teams, National policy makers and stakeholders we shape and produce environmental plans that drive forwards Area priorities.
The ability and willingness to attend regular internal and external face to face meetings across either the East or West Midlands is key to the success of this role.

- Data analysis/research and/or modelling tools and techniques
- Gathering, maintaining, quality-assuring data and using a variety of techniques to present data/information in a convincing and engaging way
- Ability to translate guidance and policy areas into language suitable for the audience
- Self-motivated and ability to work under own initiative, and as part of a larger, cross-functional team. You’ll have good skills in prioritising and delivering work to required standards and deadlines.
- You’ll have good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate own work.
- Contact and additional information-
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
