**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Shift Coordinator, the role of the Operational Support Technician is to support the operational activities of the site and the work of the Refinery & Packing Technicians whilst maintaining safety, environmental, food safety and quality standards. The role includes the responsibility for ship unloading as and when vessels arrive. The role is based on 12-hour shifts working a combination of days and nights.

**Responsibilities**
- Be responsible for the safe unloading of ships that bring raw materials to site. This will involve liaising with the ship crew, agents and supervisors and ensure that the shipping lines, control system etc are fully operation, monitored and safe.
- Be responsible and operate all the ancillary operations including boilers, effluent plant, compressors etc. across the site ensuring they are well maintained, serviced and in good condition. Develop basic mechanical and electrical skills to ensure that the site services are reliable and maintained
- Support Refinery and Packing Plant Operations where required for example changing plates in AMA filters or moving finished goods and raw materials in the warehouse
- Develop systems and processes to ensure that all operational tasks are documented, safe and auditable.
- Be responsible for the intake of oil deliveries and other chemicals by road. This will include sampling and product testing and logging results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The technician is then responsible for the safe off-loading of the delivery.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are continually improved by carrying out cleaning in line with specific cleaning schedules, as identified during audits and by self-inspection of the area conditions.
- Develop an understanding of the packing plant & refinery processes and be able to provide cover for Packing Plant Technicians with Raw Materials coordination and dispatch.
- Carry out efficiency and workplace improvement projects including but not limited to operator asset care programs.
- Operational Support Technicians are responsible for their own and others safety; ensure all safety procedures are adhered to and be involved in carrying out risk assessments and writing permits for contractor activities.

**a) Must have Experience.**
- Educated to GCSE level with minimum of 5 GCSE’s above C grade in English, Maths and Science
- Sets ambitious standards for themselves and others.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated, not easily discouraged.
- Willing to learn and share learnings.

**b) Desirable Experience**
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience
