We are seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Head of Portfolio Management that will help embed our change management culture to underpin the delivery of substantial and a diverse range of strategic change initiatives. Supporting and influencing senior organisational leadership with their portfolios, the role holder will ensure that projects are professionally planned to implement and embed strategic change effectively to deliver maximum benefits.

This role will manage a pipeline of strategic change demand, ensuring that all projects are captured, sized and scaled, assigned the right resources, initiated in line with institutional strategy, aligned to appropriate governance and management controls, and that change management principles and tools are used to make change successful.

This role is part of the Strategic Change Delivery Leadership Team, will be responsible for leading a team of Portfolio Managers

Applicants must have experience of leading change portfolios and large complex cross organisational change projects, line managing staff, influencing senior leaders and project teams and embedding business processes and people change successfully.

Your priorities will include:
Working with Portfolio Owners, the post holder will lead a team that will work collaboratively to prioritise and manage a diverse workload comprising:
**Planning, Organisation and Decision Making**:
1. Plan and manage the workload of the Portfolio Management team.

2. Plan and prioritise workload in line with University Strategy.

3. Plan and prioritise successful delivery of projects within budget and on time.

4. Ensure the delivery of the portfolio from start to completion.

Who we’re looking for:

- Relevant and demonstrable experience in Programme and Portfolio Management. Thorough understanding of portfolio and change management techniques and methods.
- Work with high energy to lead a team, and to work with partners and suppliers in the delivery of large-scale and complex change.
- Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the portfolio objectives, inspire, and motivate staff to execute delivery of our goals.
- A high degree of political sensitivity, astuteness, and the ability to use informal influence and power to overcome obstacles and achieve success across all institutional sub-strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and “sell” the portfolio goals and objectives our community, and to persuade at a senior level.
