Are you a skilled and empathetic professional with experience in assessing the best interests of individuals who lack the capacity to make certain decisions for themselves? 3D Recruit are currently seeking a dedicated Best Interest Assessor to join a team. If you have a background in social work, mental health, or a related field, along with a commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of vulnerable individuals, we want to hear from you It is a locum role where you will be on an initial 3-month contract with the potential to be extended

**As a Best Interest Assessor within this team, you will have the following responsibilities**:
**Requirements**:

- Conduct best interest assessments in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant legal frameworks, involving individuals who lack capacity, their families, carers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Gather comprehensive information about the individual's personal circumstances, wishes, feelings, beliefs, and values, using a person-centred approach.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, healthcare professionals, legal representatives, and advocacy services, to gather relevant information and perspectives to inform decision-making.
- Analyse information collected during assessments to determine the individual's best interests, taking into account their past and present wishes, feelings, beliefs, and any known values or cultural factors.
- Develop clear and evidence-based recommendations for decision-making, ensuring that any proposed actions or interventions are proportionate, least restrictive, and promote the individual's well-being and autonomy.
- Provide clear and concise written reports documenting the assessment process, findings, and recommendations, ensuring that all relevant legal and procedural requirements are met.
- Communicate assessment outcomes and recommendations effectively to individuals, their families/carers, professionals, and relevant decision-making bodies, facilitating understanding and involvement in the decision-making process.
- Act as an advocate for the rights and best interests of individuals who lack capacity, ensuring that their views and wishes are given due consideration in decision-making processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, decisions, and actions taken, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Stay abreast of developments in mental capacity law, policy, and best practice guidelines, engaging in continuous professional development to enhance knowledge and skills.
- 2 years of Qualified Social Work experience
- 5 years of satisfactory references
- Driving License with access to a vehicle
- SWE Registered
