**Who are we?**

Common sense says that the less someone drives, the less driving should cost them. And we agree. But back in 2018, the car insurance industry didn’t see it like that. So, we launched the UK’s first real-time pay-by-mile policies. Since then, we’ve had our members covered for a massive 500 million miles of driving. It’s been an epic journey (which is a bit ironic, since we’re helping people who don’t use their cars so much).

Along the way, we’ve gone from plucky newcomers, to being voted Best Car Insurance Provider 3 times in a row. Though we’re still very much doing things in our own, unique way - we’re now backed by Direct Line Group (alongside some of the country's best known brands)

**Head of Pricing**

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you’ll report to the Chief Commercial Officer and be responsible for developing the By Miles Pricing Strategy to drive revenue growth, market share expansion and profitability targets.

You’ll lead our Data Pricing Team, support them with their goal setting and take a step back to sense-check the alignment of multiple team goals to produce an effective and aligned pricing engine. You’ll continue to build the Pricing Data and BI strategy enabling the team to:

- Focus on analysis of internal and external data to identify pricing, performance and market trends, patterns, and opportunities.
- Develop sophisticated pricing models and algorithms to accurately predict risk and optimise pricing structures.
- Lead research into machine learning-based insurance models.
- Be the champion of By Miles Pricing & Data strategy amongst group P&U leadership.

**You’ll be a fantastic addition to By Miles if you have**:

- Demonstrable commercial leadership in developing and executing successful insurance pricing strategies in a high growth environment.
- Expert pricing knowledge within the motor insurance industry.
- A history of designing and leading the implementation of complex pricing models.
- A strong understanding of underwriting and policy documentation.
- A good understanding of data science and data insight and how they collectively achieve By Miles’ objectives.
- Inclusive leadership, with the ability to support and lead multi-disciplined teams including Data scientists, BI analysts, and Underwriting.
- Experiencing in setting out future strategy and being able to use a wider knowledge of the insurance industry to put forward proposals, that will guide business decisions (such renewal rates, save on claims cost).
- Have a strong network and can act as source of expertise across the broader insurance industry.
- Has an understanding of the claims process, in detail.
- The ability to create credible pricing strategies and proposals, working with insurers to get them agreed and adopted.

**Day to day you’ll be**:

- Taking a collaborative approach in maintaining strong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Translating data into tangible strategy, driving the data requirements of the insurance functions as By Miles evolves, and larger data sets become available.
- Influencing internally, acting in a consultancy capacity for other teams, such as operations, marketing, and customer experience.
