Metsä Wood UK annual turnover is c.£150m with production volume up to 500,000m³ and the UK entity employs c.400 people across four automated manufacturing and distribution sites:

- Boston, Lincolnshire (UK Head Office)
- Widnes, Lancashire (softwood planning)
- King’s Lynn, Norfolk (manufacture of Finnjoist i-beams and timber treatment)
- Grangemouth, Scotland (distribution hub)

The largest share of revenue is generated though the Merchant and DIY channel. Its Industrial segment includes door and bed manufacturers, whilst the Housebuilder sector serves some key players in the construction market.

Metsä Wood UK core products consist of machined softwood, panel products and a range of specialist products such as MDF mouldings. These ranges complement the Group product sales which puts us in a unique position to serve the UK building materials distribution market.

**About the role**:

- Supports the UK Head of Operational Excellence in the deployment of the Operational Excellence (OE) Programme at the Boston site across all operational areas
- Through the coaching and development of the line teams, the Operational Excellence Lead is responsible for the delivery of the Continuous Improvement (CI) tools & techniques roll-out
- Develop teams which value and respect the contributions of all, teams that have a passion for ownership, accountability and a passion for driving improvements in the business operations for the benefit of the team and its customers
- Full participation as a member of the site leadership team in achievement of internal customer satisfaction, Health and Safety, compliance, technical standards, performance targets and manufacturing excellence, coaching process owners to deliver the capability to deliver outstanding performance

**Responsibilities**:
**Coaching & Guidance**
- Provide coaching and guidance to Team Leaders and their team of Operators for implementation of CI tools & techniques, and execution of Daily Management Systems (DMS):

- Perform Hands-on Coaching
- Skill Development/Technical Mastery/Behavioural
- Guide Daily Action Reviews (DAR) to deliver, and continually drive improvement of results, reporting on the following:

- Safety & Quality Metrics
- DMS, DAR & 5S Health Checks
- Production Attainment Results
- Training
- Coach the use of standard work to eliminate non-value-added work, including coaching the link to effort reduction
- Lead activities to understand and increase levels of employee engagement using CI techniques, combined with actively listening to colleagues
- Work effectively with employee representatives and adhere to working agreements

**Continuous Improvement**
- Execute & guide weekly Health Checks, identifying gaps in processes & results, and implementing appropriate countermeasures
- Lead the line teams through the relevant OE phases to improve results
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of OE, liaising where appropriate with site teams, implementation reviews and health check to asses success against expected OE delivery
- Coach and support line teams to develop and execute 90-day plans that build capability and eliminate losses using CI tools
- Drive action and accountability to resolve issues
- Instill a Continuous Improvement culture throughout the site
- Lead issue resolution to Root
