**Aim & Purpose of the Role**

As a finance assistant you will be assisting in all the financial reporting, learning all aspects of accounting and studying towards an AAT Level 3 finance qualification, study support provided with 6 hours training course per week (BPP)

**Typical daily routine**

**Daily Tasks**
- Checking processing of purchase invoices to ensure they are correct
- SAGE daily bank reconciliations & reporting cash balances
- Allocation of cash receipts and payments to purchase ledger and sales ledger accounts
- Processing of income transactions on WCFP back office system
- Review outstanding debtors and assist chase/resolve queries

**Weekly**
- SAGE aged debtors reconciliation & reporting & investigating discrepencies
- SAGE aged creditors reconciliation
- Minimum of weekly payment run for suppliers
- Ad hoc client invoices

**Monthly**
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparations for journal postings to SAGE 200
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
- Income WIP schedules
- Prepayments & accruals
- Nominal reconciliaions to trial balances
- Posting journals
- Monthly MI reports
- Rolling P&L & monthly forecasts

**Quarterly**
- VAT returns
- Reconciliation of income
- Reviewing an intangible client list quarterly to assess for impairment

**Annually/Adhoc**
- Budgets/projections
- financial statements and year end reporting
- updating procedures for changes in processes and legislation
- Liasing with auditors to answer queries, analyse results, explain variances to PY, changes in processes and provide workings and documents
- Analyse expenditure for the purpose of group allocation of costs and calculate intercompany recharges and reconcile intercompany balances.
- Liasiing with external professional tax firm to provide information for professional tax computations and checking the computations include the correct detail
- Revewing an intangible client list quarterly to asses for impairment
- Payroll support as and when required

**Project Work**

Ongoing work on SAGE 200 systems, updating information and assisting in the setup of additional functionality to optimise efficiency and accuracy (avoid manual entry) and reporting design for ease of access of financial information.

**Education & Experience**
- Experience of working in an office desirable.
- Good GCSE grades in English and Maths (level 4 or above)
- Accounting /business experience and/or qualifications desirable
- Comfortable using computer systems, ideally word & excel

**Salary**: £12,500.00-£16,500.00 per year
