And that’s not just the Police Officers. Here at Northumbria Police, we’ve got almost 2000 police staff working behind the scenes to make our community a safe place to live, work and visit. Fancy joining us on a journey to prevent crime and protect our communities? That journey starts here

Business Services are the team that hold our Force together. On any given week they liaise with a huge variety of stakeholders about numerous issues, and we’ve got a great opportunity to join our team in Hexham. You’ll need to be adaptable, up for a challenge and a great problem solver to join our team, where every day you learn something new

One minute you’ll be helping an internal colleague with a general query and using our computer systems to ensure information is logged, the next ordering uniform and equipment for one of our officers. You’ll be supporting with Health and Safety checks to ensure our station is a safe place for colleagues to work, and you might need to step in to support coordinate the removal of property. Working for a Police Force is unique in nature, and this role is truly different from your typical admin role

You’ll need to be fantastically organised and have excellent communication skills for this role. In return, you’ll find a multitude of opportunities to develop personally and professionally, working in an environment that will build upon your existing experience and make you feel like you’ve achieved something every day you come to work.

**What do I need?**
- Excellent administration skills and an ability to remain calm when under pressure
- Exceptional planning and organisation skills - you’ll need to evidence that you can deliver a high quality service to internal and external customers, as well as prioritising workload appropriately
- The ability to problem solve and use initiative to make effective decisions independently
- You must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to communicate at all levels
- Experience of databases, spread-sheets and working within a strong team working culture.

In return for your dedication and experience, we offer 26 days’ leave (pro rata), excluding bank holidays, increasing to 30 days for 5 years+ service. We support our people inside and out of work - offering a very competitive pension scheme and discounts on shopping and eating out thanks to the Blue Light Card. Also, to take care of your physical and mental well-being, we’ve invested in extensive paid sick leave, trained mental health first aiders on-site, an employee advice service and access to gyms in some stations.
