The post of Funding Officer at Cheviot Youth is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated and engaging team in a modern, dynamic third sector organisation. Providing live changing opportunities and mental health care for young people across the Cheviot area and wider Scottish Borders, Cheviot Youth has an established track record of successfully delivering on grant, trust, foundation, and service level funded activities, projects, and services. Fulfilling a key role within the organisation, the successful applicant will join the Charity at an exciting time of new horizons, further development, and greater need for our services than ever before.

GENERAL ROLE
- The Funding Officer will be responsible for researching and identifying possible funding across various sources, including trusts, foundations, grants, and commissioned services.
- They will administer, prepare, and submit all required progress updates, reports, and feedback, as specified by funders and at the direction of the Management Team.
- They will provide regular progress update reports at the direction of the Management Team, and per the requirements of the Board of Trustees.
- They will work with the Management Team to develop a fundraising strategy to support the Charity in its strategic aims.
- To work on their own initiative and be able to effectively prioritise their workload, as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility of working hours is offered with some evening work required to fulfil the role. Work-related travel expenses can be claimed, and a generous seven-week annual holiday allowance (pro rata) is offered.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Ensure sufficient funding is procured to enable the smooth running of the Charity through the performance and execution of the role.
- To research, submit, monitor, and report on funding bids as required.
- Ensure accurate logs, documentation, and reports are produced, securely stored, and always accessible by those who require them.
- Keep the Management Team appraised of upcoming deadlines and any information required to effectively execute the role.
- Attend in-person and digital meetings where required to effectively execute the role and at the direction of the Management Team.
- Ensure organisation policies and regulations are always adhered to.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Observe Health & Safety requirements.
- Work within the bounds of all policies and procedures.
- Receive regular recorded supervision sessions from the Head of Insight Youth
- Undertake any additional and appropriate functions within the organisation.

**EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS**

**Essential**
- English at National Higher Level
- Mathematics at National 4 Level

**EXPERIENCE**

**Essential**:

- Minimum of three years in a similar role.
- Recorded evidence of past funding successes.
- Procurement of commissioned services.
- Using online funding and tendering portals.
- Working as a member of a small team.

**Desirable**:

- Fundraising specifically for youth work and mental health services

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**

**Essential**:

- Good ability to write striking and impressive prose that remains concise and effective where word counts are limited.
- Effective time management with the ability to work under pressure.
- Good all-around communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a range of audiences.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Good numeracy skills with the ability to read and understand accounting documents.
- IT literate.
- A working knowledge of current best practices in monitoring and evaluation.
- A working knowledge of fundraising in the third sector and the challenges surrounding this.

**Desirable**:

- Current knowledge of a wide range of trust/foundation/statutory funding sources
- An understanding of issues surrounding youth work and mental health support.
