**Job description**:

**Person specification**:

- Drive the design and delivery of policies across a range of research and innovation related areas
- Work closely with other government departments to understand and improve how their policies align with our science, technology and innovation agenda
- Engage and build relationships with stakeholders across the research and innovation landscape to inform them of government priorities and support departmental policy development and analysis
- Monitor and evaluate policies to understand their real-world impact
- Contribute to department-wide discussions about our priorities and culture

**Skills and experience**

We are looking for people who:

- Can develop strong, evidence-based policy proposals
- Can step back and 'see the big picture', linking policy work to broader strategic goals
- Has experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, balancing competing interests and sustaining positive working relationships
- Are well-organised, with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Can manage competing priorities, remain calm under pressure and deliver high quality work at pace
- Can problem-solve, involving proactively developing, communicating and implementing solutions, and effectively re-prioritising when needed.
