The council offers a strong level of support to vulnerable groups and those who need additional support, which has also increased significantly as a result of the pandemic. Like most places, the average age of our population is rising as more people are living longer, so we are working closely with residents to help them maintain their independence and further improve the cost effectiveness of our service to meet the ongoing rise in demand.

Kingston is home to people from diverse and interesting cultures and backgrounds, which helps to create the rich sense of community shared across the borough. In particular, Kingston has a large Sri Lankan Tamil community and is home to more people from Korea than any other part of the UK.

**About the Role** 1

The core function of this temporary role is to support the Climate Action team and working groups for Climate Action across the council to deliver the Climate Action Programme. This will include upkeep of programme documentation and governance support, plus ad hoc research, programme delivery and project support work.

Key functions of the role include:

- Providing high quality administrative and project support, maintaining project documentation
- Work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support the implementation of climate action plans
- Provide support at community events and with funding bids
- Coordinate responses to relevant Freedom of Information or Environmental Information requests
- Support with monitoring and reporting against the Council's 2030 and 2038 net zero targets

You will be passionate about climate action and be able to demonstrate an ability to support the delivery and reporting against the Council's climate action programme using project documentation such as highlight reports and risk registers. You will be able to communicate with confidence to a range of audiences in writing and in person. You will demonstrate that you take a proactive and solution focussed approach to tasks and are able to manage your own workload and priorities across this broad work programme.
