**Position Overview**
As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting our General Counsel in managing the day-to-day operations of the legal office and contributing to its overall efficiency. Working both independently and collaboratively with the General Counsel and wider business functions, you will approach your work with a logical and organised approach whilst maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. You will be an analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills with the ability to understand and interpret legal documents.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Supporting our Relationship Management, Risk, HR, and Credit Control departments by responding to straightforward legal queries and issues, escalating to the General Counsel as appropriate.
- Assisting the General Counsel with complex transactions, litigation support, and business-critical projects.
- Liaising with our external dispute resolution lawyers and internal stakeholders to ensure that debt recovery matters are resolved efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Reviewing our agency customers’ Terms of Business and client agreements to ensure that they meet our funding criteria.
- Developing and maintaining our register of non-standard contracts.
- Drafting general correspondence, such as breach, reservation of rights, and pre-action letters.
- Carrying out legal research using Practical Law and other online resources.
- Providing general administrative and organisational support to the legal department.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes.
**Skills / Qualifications**
- At least 12 months’ experience within an in-house legal team or the commercial department of a law firm.
- A paralegal/legal executive qualification, LLB, or PGDL.
- An understanding of the invoice finance and/or recruitment sectors, although full training will be provided.
- Professional experience of using MS Office and Practical Law.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be highly organised with good time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Happy working independently and using own initiative whilst being a friendly team player too.
**Package**:
We are offering a full-time salary of between £25,000 - 27,000 per annum, with access to a fantastic range of employee benefits:
- 22 days’ holiday per year (in addition to public/statutory bank holidays) - you will also accrue a further day’s holiday for each year of service, up to a maximum of 30 days

**Location**
This position is based in Eastleigh, Southampton.
