**Job overview**:
Primarily the role is concerned with delivering training in the deteriorating patient, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) to all grades of staff across all specialties. In addition the post holder will have responsibilities, in quality assurance, clinical and training equipment provision and maintenance.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Teaching staff about the importance of the early recognition and escalation of the deteriorating patient, in line with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines.

Delivery of resuscitation courses; high quality CPR and automatic external defibrillation, in line with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines. This requires the ability to deliver high quality CPR, both in teaching and clinically

Assess the learner's resuscitation knowledge and skills as per training needs analysis

Take responsibility for coordinating and delivering specific elements of the clinical life support programme e.g. course bookings, teaching and data collection

Attend mandatory training and update sessions as per policy

Work alongside the Resuscitation Equipment Coordinator to assist in developing systems for the safe provision of cardiac arrest equipment across the Trust.

Ensure that standards from national governing bodies (e.g. NHS improvement (NHSi) and the Resuscitation Council (UK)) in relation to cardiac arrest equipment are followed.

Develop and maintain close links with the managers of clinical areas to ensure local implementation of the Trust Resuscitation Policy.

Maintain adequate stock levels of disposable items required for each cardiac arrest trolley throughout the organisation, made available for replenishment at a central location. Assist with the production and distribution of the sealed cardiac arrest trays for all sites and community services when required.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Registered Health Care Practitioner e.g Registered Nurse, Midwife, ODP, Paramedic.

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Previous / recent experience of working in an acute NHS care setting (e.g ED, AMU, CCU)
- Competent in Basic level Life Support (BLS) and use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
- Ability to participate with the implementation of change, assist with and improving standards.

**Desirable**:

- Involvement in audit
- Incident reporting and investigations
- Teaching resuscitation skills
- Teaching experience

**Additional Criteria**:
**Essential**:

- Work as part of a team but able to work independently when required
- Good personal time management skills
- Full driving license as this is a cross site role / Ability to fulfil travel requirements of post
- Able to manage time effectively to carry out cross site working on a regular basis.
