Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Dietitian looking to progress to the next step to become a Band 6 Dietitian or an experienced Band 6 Dietitian looking for a change with our Macmillan cancer and palliative care service. A B5 to Band 6 development post will also be considered for the right applicant. The post will predominantly be based at Heartlands and Good Hope hospital, but may cross-site to Solihull if required. The Macmillan service covers a wide range of cancer specialities including acute haematology, ears, nose and throats and upper gastrointestinal. The clinical caseload varies from acute inpatients to MDT outpatient clinics or dietitian from home clinics. The service works closely with our multidisciplinary colleagues within MDTs and joint therapy clinic reviews. The successful applicant will receive training from an experienced multidisciplinary team in the care of the Macmillan patients. This will expose the successful candidate to a wide range of cancer and palliative conditions with a variety of therapy interventions.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Band 5 or current Band 6 Dietitian with an interest in Palliative care and Cancer care. It is essential they have good clinical skills, good

communication and interpersonal skills. The post-holder must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have good organisational and time management skills, problem solving skills and an enthusiasm for service development. The dietitian will be expected to manage their own clinical caseload, including assessing, treating and discharging, and take an active approach to their own personal development alongside a comprehensive training programme. The successful candidate will have to work closely with the multidisciplinary team and therapy colleagues and look to contribute to our student pathways.
