Primarily focussed on UK policy, you'll also contribute to the team's work on Irish and EU policy developments.

You'll be required to analyse and interpret government policies, communicate and give advice on important policy developments and contribute to the design and delivery of advocacy and engagement strategies aligned with business objectives. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey arguments that persuade and influence others.
- Good analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, synthesise technical information from multiple sources and formulate evidence-based recommendations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, seek co-operation from, influence or motivate others to help resolve problems.

**About our Business**

Our Corporate Affairs, Regulation & Strategy (CARS) function combines three quite separate but intrinsically linked businesses, with a shared focus on advising, influencing and communicating SSE's strategy and interests with key stakeholders. This involves the interpretation of complex political and regulatory changes, skilled lobbying to inform the future energy ecosystem, and innovative communication techniques to ensure SSE's story is reached by a broad range of audiences including investors, competitors, governments, partners, suppliers, communities, and both current and prospective employees.

SSE Thermal is on a mission to deliver the flexible energy needed today while powering the transition to net zero. Our 600+ employees play a crucial role in keeping the lights on across the UK and Ireland and we're rising to the low-carbon challenge with our teams at the cutting-edge of vital technologies. We're developing ground-breaking carbon capture and storage projects and progressing plans for what could be the world's first hydrogen-fired power station, as well as a major hydrogen storage facility and exploring other exciting options as we decarbonise. We've already achieved a lot - but we're just getting started. As part of SSE, which is investing up to £40bn over the next decade, we're at the forefront of the energy transition - so come join us as we continue to grow and power change.
