The role is responsible for conducting operational compliance and special audits on the Chartwells business to identify risks and controls that may impact the integrity of reported information and/or the achievement of business objectives. This includes leading initiatives to drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices across sites, fostering a culture of quality, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance Manager to conduct thorough School Food Reviews across the Chartwells Secondary estate, ensuring continuous improvement in service
- For each assignment, understand the various risks, processes, controls, IT systems, business performance metrics, operational challenges, and business initiatives.
- Ensure proper controls and processes are in place for each assignment.
- Maintain appropriate working papers and evidence to support findings and recommendations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations concisely and clearly to all levels of management both verbally and in writing. Work with management to develop appropriate solutions and action plans to address recommendations.
- Meet specific targets set in regards to number of assignments completed within certain timeframes.
- Develop strong and positive relationships with management and with school catering teams so the Quality Assurance Team are seen as a function to consult with and ask for assistance and guidance when issues arise.
- The Quality Assurance Team must deliver a value adding service that assist the business to achieve its business objectives. As such, the approach to management is supportive and consultative but always with an awareness of maintaining independence.

- Ability to work independently, a self-starter, creative thinker with high professional standards and integrity
- Good analytical skills, with a strong risk awareness and thorough understanding of processes and controls
- Commercially aware and ambitious
- In-depth knowledge of internal controls, compliance, auditing standards and continuous improvement methodologies
- Comfortable having difficult conversations
- Ability to quickly grasp an understanding of compliance issues and business requirements
- Ability to quickly identify problems / situations which require attention.
- Strong communication skills and ability to function effectively in teams, one-on-one situations, and audit presentations
- Effective writing, presentation and listening skills
- Strong organisation and work paper skills
- Effective team player
- Knowledge of school food legislation
- School food operations experience
- Experience using online auditing system
