We are based in Hertfordshire, in the town of Hoddesdon. The Hoddesdon campus, consisting of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a purpose built conference area has more than 5,000m2 of premier R&D space and houses an established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Drug Discovery team, and a newly formed Formulation Development department. The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), formulation development and process chemistry. The Analytical Chemistry (AC) Team at the Hoddesdon site supports the other chemistry functions and our science partners with advanced analytical solutions that help deliver our clients’ programmes and ultimately progress medicines to the market. Having recently undergone a period of growth and expansion with the construction of a new laboratory containing 40 fume hoods, we are looking for an Associate Principal Scientist with a background in Analytical Chemistry.

**Requirements**:

- BSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline with several years’ experience in an Analytical Chemistry laboratory.
- An expert in troubleshooting and developing HPLC methods or other separation techniques such as SFC and/or GC.
- In-depth, hands-on expertise and up-to-date knowledge of other analytical methodologies.
- Clear understanding of the drug development process.
- Ability to lead projects and mentor or supervise junior members of the department.
- Strong scientific record of accomplishment.

You have a background in Analytical Chemistry combined with expert knowledge of HPLC and potentially GC, SFC, or other analytical methodologies utilized to characterize APIs. The role is to lead the analytical support of chemistry projects; report data back to Clients in team meetings, develop and validate analytical methods, provide expert advice in the characterization of Starting Materials, Intermediates and APIs and collaborates effectively with Process Chemistry colleagues.

- Developing, troubleshooting and validating HPLC and other analytical methods
- Leading analytical project teams working to tight deadlines
- Planning their and other peoples work and prioritising as necessary with the minimum level of supervision
- Implement new analytical techniques to support projects
- Ability to solve multiple complex scientific problems
- Able to work effectively in a GMP laboratory
- Present and communicate clearly and effectively with clients
- Lead and mentor other more junior members of staff
