The CAMHS Eating Disorder Service provides assessment and intervention for children and young people with an eating disorder
- anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating and eating disorders not otherwise specified
- based on NICE guidelines and individually assessed needs, ensuring all care is implemented collaboratively with children, young people and their carers/ families.

The team work closely with other CAMHS teams to enable children and young people with an eating disorder to access the full range of supportive interventions available. They work out of all CAMHS hubs, and also offer a home treatment and family support, which is offered jointly with colleagues in CAMH Crisis and Home Treatment Team.

You will provide therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families including delivering group interventions, and supporting families with meal supports. You will also contribute to the screening of referrals, and Multi-Disciplinary Assessments and discussions around care planning to meet the needs of children and young people.

Under the supervision of a Registered Professional, hold and manage a delegated caseload (low to moderate complexity).

Acting as an advocate, support service users and their families/carers through their plan of care both physically and psychologically to achieve expected outcomes.

Monitor and report back the service user’s progress against planned objectives.

Implement planned care, education and teaching which encourages and empowers Service Users and their family/carers.

Contribute to case conferences and reviews, supporting service users and carers to engage with services and contribute to their care.

Undertake reviews of care with service users, carers and team members.

Screen referrals into the team, and contribute to decision making with support of Registered Professionals in the team.

Provide a range of structured therapeutic interventions and clinical monitoring in accordance with National guidelines and best-practice within the wider community, working in group or on a one to one basis.

Provide support at mealtimes as part of a planned programme of care.

Co-facilitate group interventions.

Act as a key worker to service users accepted into the service and identified to be of low to moderate complexity, under the supervision of a Registered Professional.

Work collaboratively, and promote effective working relationships, with members of the multi-disciplinary team, internally and with external agencies.

Contribute positively to the achievement of service targets and outcomes.

Use techniques derived from one or more therapeutic models to engage and optimise service user treatment outcomes and to support their long-term care plan.

When indicated refer or signpost on to a range of other specialist and third sector services.

Work closely with, support and provide information to service user families/carers, and wider community services that support the service-user care-pathway.

Comply with and carry out safe practice in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, appropriate Codes of Conduct, the Mental Health Act (1983) and other relevant national and local guidance.

Work flexibly across the county to support service need.
