As a Corporate Funding Officer your role will be to help develop new private sector income streams and corporate donations to support the surplus food sector in Birmingham. You will be working for a fixed 10 month period in the first instance. Your role will span both the Fundraising and Food teams. You will be responsible for identifying and researching new corporate donors, building strategic partnerships and levering in large scale funding contributions to the community food sector.

**MAIN DUTIES**:

- **Identify new funding opportunities by actively engaging private businesses on behalf of the community food sector.
- Identify donors with compatible CSR policies in place and establish relationships with them
- Develop strong working relationships with key partners in the community food sector (internal and external)
- Act as broker between donors and recipients from the community food sector, working closely with TAWS food team who hold key relationships with this sector. Manage which food projects get the funds and how, taking both diversity, equality and geographical spread across the city into account to ensure funds received by a range of food projects
- Manage relationships between businesses and food projects where needed, including social media sign-off and other processes
- Work as part of the funding team to regularly review and continuously improve processes around fundraising in the organisation
- Work to embed the organisational culture required to implement the mission, aim and values of the society
- Keep abreast of new and emergent thinking across wellbeing, community development and tackling inequalities
- Support our staff and communities to develop skills in fundraising
- Carry out all duties as may be reasonable assigned from time to time and that are commensurate with the level of this job.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- **Relevant experience of forging new partnerships with the commercial sector valued at £25K+
- Understanding of community engagement & fundraising, with knowledge of driving income through national donor pipelines
- Excellent partnership working and relationship management skills.
- Proven experience of meeting individual income targets
- Experience of, or the willingness to learn coaching techniques to empower colleagues to succeed
- Experience of developing account management processes and templates, toolkits and resources required to support corporate organisations to engage with funding requests.
- Track record of working autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast paced and challenging environment
- Strong written and communication skills, ability to write, review and edit copy to a high standard
- Skilled at sumarising complex ideas in writing
- Evidence of being creative and entrepreneurial in approach
- Ability to plan, prioritise, achieve targets and deliver to deadlines
- Experience of strong partnership working, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Passionate about tackling inequality and community wellbeing.
- Experience of working with CRM system or database to maximize income generation performance (Desirable)
- The ability to travel within Birmingham.
