This is through Riverside Training, our employment and skills team, and CLIP, an education provider.

Your role is a balance between providing support and assistance to the Senior Legal and Governance Officer whilst also being the primary point of contact for the more routine or straight forward legal matters. Your role is predominantly about providing legal support and advice to the Acis Group on non-contentious matters that comes into the team to deal with.

**As a Legal and Governance Officer, a typical day might include**:

- Being the primary person who deals with all our Right to Buy and Right to Acquire matters
- Carrying out the initial enquiries stages of our Shared Ownership resale and staircasing matters, progressing on to owning these matters yourself and taking them right through to completion as your experience continues to grow.
- Working on other straight forward or routine legal matters that come into the team, such as boundary enquiries, ad hoc requests to purchase land and simply tenancy management advice, continually growing your experience and knowledge so that you can then take on more challenging matters.
- Investigating the background to any of the insurance claims that come our way and liaising with our insurers on them.
- Assisting the Senior Legal and Governance Officer with potential disrepair claims by carrying out tasks such as collating all the necessary evidence and working with our colleagues in other departments to make sure that everything is done on time and within agreed deadlines.
- Providing cover when our Governance and Data Protection Officer is absent by preparing agendas, collate the meeting papers and ensure that they are all distributed by the deadline.
- You may have to minute committee meetings on the odd occasion and make sure that you note any actions that come out of the meeting and recording all decisions. You will ensure that these are all done professionally and timely.

**What a good Legal and Governance Officer looks like to us**:

- A great standard of education, with at least 5 GCSEs at grades A-C (or equivalent) with one being in English.
- Be qualified, have started, or be desperate to start studying towards the Chartered Legal Executive qualification (or equivalent), and in return we will support you financially with your studies.
- Excellent typing skills.
- Fabulous communication skills.
- You’re happiest when you are working within a team environment as we all support each other but equally you will be able to work on your own without supervision.
- You must know how to keep the information that the you hear from working in your role confidential.
- You can prioritise your workload effectively, despite ever changing deadlines and goals.
- Fabulous communication skills.
- Have a great eye for detail.
- The ability to take accurate minutes of meetings.

**What will make you stand out from the crowd**:

- ECDL or similar for all our computing needs.
- You’ve experience of working within a legal environment and have gained some useful experience in conveyancing, disrepair or other relevant legal knowledge.
- You have already qualified, or started to study toward your Chartered Legal Executive qualification.
- You can find solutions in creative ways, to a wide range of issues is one of your strengths.
- You have worked within the housing sector before
