**HEAD OF FINANCE**
**Hours**:37.5 hours (flexibility required)
**Salary**:£36,720 to£40,000 _(depending on experience / qualifications_)
**Holidays**: 25 days per year (rising to 30 with length of service) plus 8 public holidays ( _based on full time hours_)
**Period of Notice**:One week during probationary period, three months thereafter
**Probationary Period**: Six months
**Based at**: Head Office - 36 Princes Drive, Colwyn Bay
**Responsible to**:Director of Finance
**Job Purpose**:
To take responsibility for the provision of accurate and timely financial information, prepared and presented to a high standard and to support and deputise for the Director of Finance, when required.
To manage the day-to-day activities across all functions within the busy Finance Department, ensuring ensure processes are fit for purpose and all accounting activities comply with deadlines, internal financial regulations, and external legislation. Using their initiative, the Head of Finance will lead on introducing continual improvements to systems and processes and will report on areas of risk and concern across the department.
The role will take responsibility for the various functions within the Finance Department, identifying and responding to training needs and ensuring the agreed objectives for the sub-teams are met, namely:
- Purchase Leger / Staff Expenses:_
To ensure the process of ordering goods then receiving, recording, and paying invoices is carried out in in an efficient way by the Purchase Ledger Team, ensuring authorisation levels are monitored and timetables adhered to.
- Sales Ledger / Claims:_
To ensure that sales invoices and financial claims are accurately and promptly prepared by the Management Accounts Team, in accordance with contractual requirements and as requested by Service Managers.
The Head of Finance will regularly review the debtors report to ensure outstanding amounts are being quickly and efficiently collected, queries followed up and issues highlighted to Service Managers, as well as providing guidance to the Credit Controller and overseeing the reporting within this function.
- Payroll:_
To provide support to the Payroll Team, liaising with People Services Department, Managers and external agencies when required, to ensure data received into the department is accurate and timely, so that processes and timetables can be followed, whilst adhering to legislation.
- Business Development:_
- Management accounts:_
To oversee the annual budget and half yearly forecast process; liaising with Service Managers and monitoring information prepared by the Management Accounts Team to ensure the reports accurately reflect the operational activities of the charity.
To ensure the Management Accounts Team accurately record income in accordance with contracts, review costs against budget monthly and prepare management accounts journals to ensure the monthly figures are accurate. To review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Management Accounts Team, providing guidance on necessary adjustments, and ensuring reports accurately reflect the financial position of the organisation.
To prepare a monthly report for the Director of Finance which covers (as a minimum) detail on the Income & Expenditure Account, Balance Sheet, Cash position and Debtors.
To oversee the year end process; ensuring reconciliations are completed and data is prepared in a timely manner to enable the audit to take place and the financial statements to be prepared in line with reporting deadlines.

To provide support and guidance to the Procurement Officer, to ensure the organisation secures best value and quality for goods and services procured.

- To monitor levels of cash and loans, highlighting anticipated cash flow issues
- To support other areas of the finance function not listed above
- To ensure the accounting software Netsuite is efficiently used and maintained
- To oversee the monitoring of attendance / annual leave / sickness and wellbeing of the Finance Team
- To deliver finance training and support to non-Finance staff
- To provide support to the Director of Finance, as required

**PERSON SPECIFICATION: Head of Finance**
Essential qualifications:
- Minimum - Part Qualified Accountant CIMA / ACCA
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience (min 5 years) of working at a similar level; managing a large team of staff in a busy finance department.
- Extensive experience within a Management Accounts role.
- Ability to manage and respond to a performance and wellbeing issues within the team.
- Using online portals to access invoices / information.
