An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Assistant/Receptionist to join our dynamic, forward-thinking multidisciplinary Sexual Health & Contraception team. Sexual Health & Contraception Services (SHAC) in Brighton & Hove currently operate out of three sites, with outreach to other parts of the city.

We are looking for an individual who has sound team-working skills, is committed to providing an excellent patient-focused service and who demonstrates a flare for customer care.

This position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) which will include some Saturdays

Sexual Health and Contraception services in Brighton and Hove are an integrated service since April 2015. The service is operating initially out of two hubs with outreach to other parts of the city.

You will be expected to undertake training to ensure a basic knowledge or level of competence in both contraception and sexual health appropriate to role and to be able to work across all sites of the integrated service according to service needs. Flexibility in working hours is expected including weekend & evening working.

You will be responsible for providing reception, administrative and clerical support within Sexual Health and Contraception (SHAC) Service.

Working as part of a team to deliver the highest standards of administrative support for patients and staff, main duties will include typing or computer input, responding to telephone enquiries, use of office equipment such as photocopiers and the maintenance of physical and electronic records.

1. Be the first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals contacting the SHAC service and direct them to the appropriate member of staff.
2. Make bookings or appointments for patients or staff members as required.
3. Maintain records, both electronically and by filing of paper records.
4. Operate office equipment including photocopying, printing, scanning and faxing.
5. Follow office procedures and practices in allocated tasks, which may include using medical records systems, appointment scheduling and the use of medical terminology.
6. Use appropriate computer-based systems to enter patient or staff information, schedule appointments and maintain databases.
7. Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of stationery and order as and when necessary, informing the clinic manager of any potential problems in good time.
8. Maintain health and safety in the department and report all incidents and accidents to the Clinic Manager as soon as possible, in accordance with departmental and trust policy.
9. Timely data inputting, collection and maintenance of patient screening records.
