The post holder will review ED attendances coding records, identifying omissions by interpreting the Clinical records and then update MSS (an IT based Clinical and Financial Documentation) with that omission.

To be responsible for the review of investigation and treatment codes inputted by Clinical staff onto MSS with the hand written clinical documentation that has been scanned into MSS.

To be responsible for updating any omissions onto the MSS system for each patient using the Changed Tariff reports.

To closely follow the Standard Operating Procedure for this process in order to ensure data is recorded, stored and archived appropriately.

To work autonomously when updating MSS making decisions on what should be recorded should all data fields in investigation / treatments have already been populated

This requires review of multiple IT Systems and the collation of these systems into a unified report.

To work as a member of a small team ensuring excellent team communication at all times.

To contribute to the production of reports as required demonstrating the on-going results of the coding review.

To adhere to adhere to all policies regarding Confidentiality by ensuring the data handled within the department is dealt with to the highest standards of confidentiality and security.

To participate in the annual appraisal process.

Be aware of the Data Protection Act 1998, Caldicott and Freedom of Information Act 2002 and their principles.

To be aware of and comply with Health and Safety, Fire Regulations and to report accidents/untoward incidents/hazards to the Clinical Coding Data Quality Manager
