The Personal Banking team in WPB is responsible for meeting the everyday banking needs of HSBC’s mass customer base which compromises of 32m customers and represents 87% of customers in WPB. The team is focusing on three key areas: 1) Capturing growth in targeted personas; 2) Driving value in the portfolio; and 3) Feeding the customer continuum.

The Global Head of Accounts acts as the primary Business Outcome Lead for the Accounts Value Stream, leading $70m technology investment and ensuring high profile GEC deliverables meet the targeted customer and commercial outcomes for the Personal Banking customer base.

The role holder acts independently and is responsible for engaging with all markets to meet the needs of the Personal Banking segment through the development and delivery of strategic capabilities that increase customer acquisition, drive engagement with established and new segments (e.g. Youth), enable customers to self-service their needs digitally to support a low cost service model, increase eligible-for-upgrade population and expand product penetration to increase customer revenue.

The role holder is accountable for the delivery and full commercialization of these capabilities, including performance management of Accounts journeys and products across all channels, and is actively scanning the market and competitor activity to identify new innovative ways of developing compelling customer capabilities to meet the emerging needs of this customer base.

The role holder will:

- Develop the strategy of the Accounts Value Stream, with full accountability for understanding market requirements and developing products and services to address customer needs
- Act as the primary Group Steward for Accounts, understand market requirements and prioritise the technology and business resources & funding amongst markets to achieve the best outcomes for markets and Group
- Be the hands-on Business Lead of all high profile GEC programmes within the Accounts VS, including World Class Account Opening (WCAO), Personal Financial Management (PFM), Customer Servicing (Armstrong) & Mobile X Re-design and several other servicing journeys across markets globally
- Work closely with Technology & Transformation Leads to ensure the value stream change agenda is delivered on time and in budget. Be hands-on and remove delivery blockers through appropriate action and escalation at junior and senior level
- Deliver scalable capabilities across several markets to ensure a consistent set of journeys across the Group
- Review performance of products and journeys and drive the local and global change agenda
- Be accountable for the objectives and key results across the Accounts agenda and use data to inform prioritisation and decision making. Maintain a focus on ROI to ensure priorities align to areas of greatest impact through OKRs
- Identify new global capabilities that can drive value in markets in support of Accounts VS outcomes
- Keep up with trends and emerging business models, reimagining how to generate value to the business and to customers
- Lead a team of Sub Value Stream Business Outcome Leads

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

- Excellent track record in driving a complex change agenda and working closely with Technology to deliver journeys across geographies
- Proven experience in working in a cross functional matrix environment with market and global teams
- Knowledge of the various servicing journeys and related technology / processes / operational support involved
- Excellent understanding of the bank’s risk framework and experience of working with second line of defence: legal, compliance, financial crime (AML & sanctions), fraud, risk
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Highly effective communicator with an ability to influence across all levels
- Strong understanding of retail financial services industry with high commercial acumen
- Strong outward focus and grasp of the competitor environment - opportunities, threats, gaps
- Demonstrable resilience and persistence - a ‘can-do’ attitude
