The library has always had a central role in academic life, as a crucial source of space and resources for studying, supporting research and sharing and managing information. The Facilities Team is key in delivering a shared vision with staff and studentsto support the delivery of the University strategy.

The Facilities team manage the library buildings and facilities across the campus, ensuring the facilities and accommodation (staff and student/public space) are appropriate for the needs of the library service and accessible in accordance with advertisedservice hours. We manage accessible and collaborative space and are committed to the needs of our customers. The Facilities Team creates a positive Health & Safety culture ensuring practice is adopted throughout the library service.

It is our aim to ensure that we are positioned to deliver services of consistently high standards throughout our library buildings. The library facilities comprise of: The Main Library (including the MRC), PG Hub, Learning Grids (University House, Rootes,BioMed Grid & Leamington) and the MRC store located on the Wellesbourne site.

**Job Description**:
To take responsibility for the day-to-day organisation, operation, and delivery of an efficient and effective Facilities service, maintaining a safe, secure and high-quality study/work environment.

To supervise a range of study and work environments and to ensure all Library spaces are open and accessible throughout advertised service hours.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1) To provide a welcoming and supportive frontline service and take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of a customer focussed, professional, reception service. To be the first point of contact for all visitors and customers and facilitate user accessto all study spaces and facilities.

2) To engage with customers in Library spaces, managing the availability of study desks, carrying out occupancy counts and other space usage audits/data gathering as required.

Providing support in learning and teaching spaces for customers by offering a meet and greet service and by being able to respond to facility or equipment enquiries, prior to and during sessions.

3) Support the maintenance of facilities and equipment by reporting faults and failures, ensuring the fabric, fixtures and fitting of facilities are fit-for-purpose, clean and presentable. Ensuring the replenishment and upkeep of study equipment and materials.

4) To carry out delivery and transportation and responding to facility service requests within the Library building/s of resources such as furniture, goods and equipment which involves some manual handling.

5) To transport, collect and/or deliver Library resources across the campus/stores and to other destinations using University vehicles as appropriate. Where authorised, drive University vehicles as instructed. Deal with contractors and visitors as required,enabling access to relevant areas, accompanying contractors where appropriate/necessary.

6) To assist with Facilities service administrative tasks, and assisting with staff inductions and training, supporting and developing guidance on Facilities processes and procedures.

7) To take responsibility for Health & Safety matters in relation to staff and users within the Library taking appropriate action to mitigate identified risks, and to report on incidents as appropriate.
- Manage all security or safety incidents which arise, out of core working hours, liaising with security staff and emergency services.
- Act as Building Incident Coordinator in the event of an emergency evacuation, working with others to safely manage the evacuation/reoccupation of buildings
- Act as an Evacuation Warden in the event of an emergency evacuation
- Responding to incidents involving first aid, accidents, near hits or the wellbeing of students. Recording, reporting and escalating incidents via appropriate channels and in a confidential manner.
- To be the main key holder for opening and closing facilities
- To undertake Building and Health & Safety Checks as required.
- To supervise contractor works to ensure they are working safely, escalating any issues to the Facilities Team Leader/Facilities Officer.
- To undertake low level planned maintenance tasks as and when required.

As required, undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.
