The purpose of the role is:

- To provide one to one support activities such as mentoring, disability guidance, assistance with assignments, support with managing anxiety and other learning needs: as well as working in the classroom supporting the learner.
To act as an advocate for the learner when negotiation with teachers and other staff is required.
- Under the direction of the CRQ Leader, the post holder will also pass on information on appropriate strategies and other guidance to lecturers and other staff.
- To support College attendance, retention and achievement strategies by providing a high-quality pro-active learning support service.
- To provide support for learning that contributes to an outstanding student experience from the start of the college journey to progression into further study or employment.
- To work directly with curriculum staff and CRQ Leader to ensure learners are fully engaged with all aspects of their learning programme and achieving to the best of their ability.
- To support learners to improve their English and Math skills.

**KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- To provide specialist guidance on supporting learners with additional learning support needs to lecturers and other appropriate staff in the learning process.
- To assist in the conducting of initial and on programme assessment activities, and use the results to inform support needs, develop additional learning support (ALS) and personal learning plans and set challenging SMART targets and track progress with each designated learner.
- To provide, on a one to one and group basis, high quality interventions that encourage learners to engage and enable the achievement of realistic yet challenging goals to support future success and progression.
- To measure the impact of one to one and group work carried out in order to evaluate effectiveness and inform continual improvement.
- To maintain accurate and auditable records of all interventions and learner information on ProMonitor and / or Earwig.
- To provide progression and transition guidance.
- To provide appropriate support in examination situations, e.g. amanuensis, as designated by the appropriate examination board.
- To liaise with appropriate organisations and agencies, educational institutions, Social Services etc. on behalf of designated learners.
- To attend meetings and conferences as appropriate.
- To manage a flexible caseload of learners, prioritising those with attendance, retention, achievement or support needs.
- To assist in pre-entry activities such as recruitment events, enrolment activities and assessment of support needs.
- To understand barriers to learning and to support learners to overcome these by developing innovative practice and delivering a consistently outstanding service.
- To periodically cover the work of other colleagues within Inclusive & Employer Learning and take on the management of small projects in order to broaden personal experience.
- To produce statistics to regularly evaluate the impact of services, improve service standards and contribute to the Colleges’ quality processes.
- To deliver first aid at College to students, staff and visitors.

**GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- To participate in the College’s Performance Management Scheme and attend such training events as are necessary to enable him/her to carry out the duties of the job description.
- To continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
- To actively participate in the College’s Quality System, including quality improvement strategies and initiatives.
- To undertake such other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
- To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/her and for others affected by his/her work.
- To actively support College Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies.
- To operate/conduct all HR tasks and functions within the principles of GDPR.

**SALARY**

The salary range for this post is from £21,234 to £23,249 per annum/ pro rata. Your starting salary will be dependent upon your qualifications and experience. Once you have successfully passed your probationary period, your salary will increase within the salary band on an annual incremental basis, until you reach the top of the salary scale.

**HOURS OF WORK**

The hours of work will be based on:
