We have a fantastic opportunity for an **Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist **to join the team, based at our site in **Newburn,** with the occasional travel to support further 260 rail sites.

We are looking for an individual who has work experience in creating and executing EHS road maps, ideally experience gained in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Understand and integrate company and legally required work processes and controls into site level operating procedures, tools, and work instructions to standardize front line processes and monitor, analyse and adjust for improved performance.
- Ensure strong alignment of goals, metrics and targets with Organisation vision and targets and govern site performance targets together with plant and site leadership team.
- Drive the creation and execution of the EHS Training Matrix for all employees. Ensure legal training requirements are met and maintained.
- Review proposed changes, new product introductions and other aspects of the Management of Change process.
- Lead the sites risk assessment programme, train, and coach risk assessors in each area.
- Coordinate and guide the first aid team, the fire warden team, the spill response team, the Safety Committee, and other teams that impact the EHS governance on site.
- Lead incident investigations and develop programmes to prevent reoccurrences, share learnings and provide EHS briefings to employees.
- Collate leading and lagging indicators to report to the Senior Management Team and Corporate EHS.
- Drive the transition to an Interdependent safety model across 260 sites and continue the progress of developing a vibrant EHS culture across geographical locations.
- Conduct internal audits and safety walkabouts while coaching others in behavioural-based safety.
- Ensure adherence to relevant EHS legislation
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and develop programmes to bring about continual improvement.
- Assist in the execution of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Programmes in association with the HR Department and Corporate EHS.
- Support and be actively involved in the development of the Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management Plan.
- Work closely with the sustainability lead to Drive Sustainability activities including the waste management programme, energy conservation, water conservation etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Requirements / Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Proven relevant work experience in creating and executing EHS road map
