AK Teaching is a respected education supply agency committed to providing exceptional support staff to schools. We specialize in supporting students with diverse needs, and we are seeking individuals who are passionate about helping those with SEMH needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant in our SEMH provisions, you will play a vital role in supporting students who require additional help due to their social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will work Monday to Friday, with no weekends required. Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implementing behavior management strategies effectively.
- Promoting positive social and emotional development through constructive interactions.
- Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and follow individualized plans.
- Creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work with students of different ages.
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with SEMH needs.
- A valid DBS (on the update service) or willingness to obtain one.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract

**Salary**: £75.00-£85.00 per day

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Shiremoor, NE27 0HH: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Special education: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- DBS (preferred)
