About the role of Accounts Payable Assistant

The Accounts Payable Assistant will be fully responsible our Highway Resource Solutions entity and will be working on the Chevron TM company Leger too. The role holder is responsible for processing invoices in the ERP system, ensuring the payment runs are made on a timely fashion, reconciling Bank, reconciling supplier statements, and working with and supporting the AP Supervisor. The role-holder will also be responsible for liaising and resolving supplier queries with the depots and suppliers.

Responsibilities of an Accounts Payable Assistant
- Processing Invoices and Credit notes
- prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
- bank reconciliations postings
- prepare and perform payment runs
- post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records
- reconcile accounts payable transactions
- Maintaining the Accounts Payable Inbox
- prepare analysis of accounts
- monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
- research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- maintain supplier files
- correspond with vendors and respond to enquiries with liaison through commercial
- produce monthly reports
- month end accruals
- assist with month end closing
- provide supporting documentation for audits
- provide support and training to other members of the team
- other Ad hoc duties

What looks good as an Accounts Payable Assistant
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Excel, and accounting systems (currently Access Dimensions moving to Netsuite)
- Previous demonstrable, practical relevant experience in a Finance environment that required regular reporting, in an Accounts Payable environment, or in a management accounting environment
- Good Communicator and Team Worker. Out-going, comfortable on the telephone
- Highly motivated and able to work under their own initiative
- Persistent, resilient, organised, flexible, pragmatic
- Excellent attention to detail
- Solid grasp of double entry book-keeping and basic accounting principles

Comfortable in a change environment (investment in new business systems is underway, role holder will need to adapt accordingly)
