Job Purpose:
The Supply Chain Planner position is responsible for the forecasting and planning activities associated with the supply of materials to meet the production schedule and customer requirements.The role will analyse sales, finance, and marketing data to estimate future demand in order to plan inventory flow and generate forecasting solutions and take full ownership of suppliers for the assigned supplier patch.

This is a varied role dealing with all aspects of demand and supply planning. The role is an integration point between the commercial organisation, operations and the supplier base.Building and maintaining strong relationships, both internally and externally to secure supply of materials is essential to this position.

Key Accountabilities:

- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models and evaluate forecast results
- Lead monthly forecast reviews with commercial and sales teams
- Improve forecasting processes and create monthly forecast which will be used for planning materials and goods purchasing
- Provide demand forecasts to key suppliers
- Develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products and manage item exit
- Initiate and maintain key Navision MRP system data, to ensure optimum stock availability with agreed stock targets
- Maintain re-order points and planning parameters based on forecast information
- Plan inventory and purchase orders to meet customer demand
- Responsible for all aspects of purchase orders management for your suppliers, including PO placement; checking order confirmations; daily monitoring; investigation and resolution of customer back orders; expediting orders in line with demand; ensuring on time and in full delivery of PO’s; chasing overdue PO’s; and dealing with delivery discrepancies and invoice queries
- Provide accurate lead time and delivery information to stakeholders
- Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production or stock levels
- Analyse supplier performance data, orchestrate and implement action plans to deal with underperforming suppliers
- Support new product introduction and ensure stock availability at product launch
- Build key relationships with suppliers to deliver the right stock levels to support sales
- Identify potential supply chain issues and constantly seek to improve processes, from placement of purchase orders through to delivery to the customer
- Actively contribute to the development and support of supply planning processes and benchmark against best practice and review ways to make continuous improvements
- Drive supply chain improvement activities with focus on taking reducing cost and improving operational efficiency

Key Experiences and Skills Required:

- A business/engineering degree would be an advantage. A Levels, HNC, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification
- Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel is essential
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the demand planning process
- Working knowledge of software related to demand planning
- Previous experience of materials planning and managing the smooth supply of materials in line with production or sales requirements and budget
- Knowledge and experience of using MRP systems or similar
- High degree of knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and components and good understanding of supply chain management or expert knowledge of specialist area
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communicator to all levels, experience dealing with senior level professionals and difficult situations.
- Drive for continuous improvement
- Commercial and financial awareness, with a full understanding of the impact of failure with regards to business costs, production targets and fulfilment of customer orders
- Results orientated and organised with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines
