Training and education The post holder is responsible for training and assessment of the Baby Friendly Standards of all staff in the Health Visiting Service, Family Nurse Partnership, Waltham Forest Infant Feeding Service, with support given to the new Waltham Forest Family Hubs. To attend training and thereafter maintain skills, in order to be able to deliver UNICEF baby Friendly breastfeeding management courses. To identify, assess, plan, deliver and evaluate the UNICEF Infant Feeding and Relationship building training to all eligible staff working in 0-19 Integrated Services, Waltham Forest Infant Feeding Service, and Family Hubs, to enable compliance with UNICEF standards and enable delivery of evidence-based practice. To participate in induction, training, supervision and support of students, newly qualified professionals and new staff to Waltham Forest within the GP Care Group.

The post holder will act as a champion to develop the skills of the workforce through positive leadership on infant feeding and links to child healthy weight management programmes within Waltham Forest. To develop a plan of updates for all existing eligible staff to ensure that staff retain the skills necessary to maintain the BFI standards. Work to establish a cohort of skill-mixed infant feeding champions across the partnership, to assist with activities including audits. Liaise with GP practices to assess their training needs and develop and deliver update training for them.

Liaise with aligned HEIs to deliver BFI training to SCPHN students. To maintain records of staff training. Ensure that a mechanism is in place for all new staff to receive orientation to the Infant feeding Policy immediately and full BFI training as soon as possible. Strategic Participate in the formulation of procedures, policies and protocols in respect of UNICEF guidelines and, with support, implement research-based practice changes.

To use highly developed negotiation, facilitation, delegation and communication skills to engage, develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including commissioners, health and local authority children services leads and the community partners. Work with the Service Leads/Partner Leads to develop a strategic action plan which would lead towards the maintenance of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Stage 3 Award and achievement of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award. To represent Waltham Forest at local, regional and national breast or infant feeding management meetings and forums. Professional To have knowledge and understanding of the issues impacting on a mother's ability to breastfeed.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current policy, both local and national, regarding infant feeding. Understand relevant issues influencing the care of children locally and nationally Have an overall understanding of data (including that relating to KPIs as per commissioned contract requirements) and how practice impacts on this. To work to own initiative; planning, prioritising and organising own workload To take an innovative approach to practice in response to a changing service Comply with NMC Code of Professional Conduct To comply with GP Care Group policies and standard operating procedures. To take responsibility for own professional development in accordance with good practice.
