Surgical and Vascular Physiotherapy Clinical Lead

To perform a specialised Physiotherapy role within the Surgical, Vascular and Gynae Team including colorectal, head and neck, renal, urology, breast care, gynae, alongside the band 7 Specialist Occupational Therapist.
To lead physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with highly complex Vascular, Surgical, Respiratory, mobility, psychological and palliative needs.
To act as a role model for clinical, operational and professional leadership, setting and upholding agreed standards and processes to enable patients to receive high quality evidence based care
To support the Vascular and Surgical Consultants with morning MDT and ward rounds and complex decision making in relation to these clients.
Maintain links with the Enablement centre B7 Physiotherapist, to enable service development
To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Physiotherapy and Occupational services within the trust, holding responsibility for defined projects and activities and providing regular feedback to Therapy and clinical leads.
To regularly educate and supervise Therapy staff members and students. Lead on teaching and training healthcare colleagues on aspects of clinical care relating to Vascular and Surgical care Physiotherapy.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To manage a complex clinical caseload and demonstrate enhanced practice in holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This will necessitate high levels of autonomy and advocacy that ensures the delivery of appropriate care.
To make a professional contribution to the multidisciplinary discussion and treatment planning/referral decisions of the team at their regular meetings.
To demonstrate enhanced knowledge, skill and innovative practice within the professional framework of physiotherapists. To ensure that there is a system of documentation that reflects this advanced practice.
To assist the Vascular/Surgical Occupational Therapist in developing policies and clinical guidelines in collaboration with the Therapy management team.
To promote clinical excellence reflecting the Trust's strategies for the Allied Health Professions.
Maintain developed links with the Vascular and Surgical Medical Teams and Vascular and surgical Specialist Nurses.
Maintain developed links with the Specialist Lead Physiotherapist in the Enablement Centre.
Participate in the on call rota.

Management & Teamwork
Promote safe and effective communication channels within therapy and multi-professional teams both at NGH and with external agencies.
Facilitate all therapy team staff in accessing clinical support and supervision.
Keep Therapy and Care Group leads informed of all the relevant issues affecting patient care e.g. risk, staffing levels, and skills and equipment needs, providing as required, information and reports.
Represent Therapy services as required, deputising for the Head of Therapies and Deputy Head of Therapies as appropriate.
Promote an awareness of the role of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy within the care group area, negotiating priorities where appropriate.
Provide assurance to the Head of Therapies that all staff within the team achieve and maintain Trust and professional mandatory training and development required.
Ensure that approved competencies are fully implemented taking appropriate action as necessary.
Trust Wide Responsibilities
Act as a resource for members of the multi-disciplinary teams across the trust through involvement in multi professional teaching and training in the area of expertise.
Act as a role model in customer service towards visitors to the hospital.
Regularly attend and participate in care group and professional meetings, facilitating leadership of these meetings when required.

Takes responsibility to ensure that Professional Registration is up to date at all times and does not lapse or expire
