The Dover District is steeped in history, with the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, several castles including the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports residence, Walmer Castle. **Main Duties**:
The newly created DART Team (Dover Asylum and Resettlement Team) will work within the district geographical area to support and empower new and existing communities. Initially with a particularly focus on individuals who are part of the ARAP (Afghan Relocations and Assistance Programme) their networks and then extending further to working with various Asylum and Resettlement schemes. Working on an individual case basis in clearly defined areas and through to engaging with community and voluntary groups, they will seek to build confident and self-reliant communities.

Asylum and Resettlement Officers will work on projects and campaigns that are designed to make communities better places to live, work and play.

Your role is to support families and individuals who are placed in Dover that have either been granted refugee status or other forms of asylum. You will provide practical and emotional support to vulnerable people, ensuring the work with families respects and values all cultures and is appreciative of the variety of family structures and ways of bringing up children.

You will use effective risk assessment tools to identify risks and undertake appropriate actions.

You will undertake practical support with clients to promote sustainable independent living, developing effective individual support packages by completing needs assessments, support plans and support reviews.

You will adhere to both service and Council policies and procedures regarding working practices and service delivery. This will include Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, Health and Safety, GDPR/Confidentiality and our Code of Conduct.

The DART team will sit with the Community Services Team who lead on various projects supporting the most social and financially inactive in our local communities. For example, improving the health and well-being of residents; whilst also improving the economic well-being and employability. The Community Services Team and DART are at the heart of communities throughout the Dover District. Supporting our residents to remain healthy, adequately housed, increased opportunities, and building strong, resilient, active, supported and cohesive communities.

This is not just a 9-5 role; the post holder needs to be flexible to the needs of their communities, be resilient in the face of adversity and optimistic to succeed, with a built-in sense of both realism and humour to get the job done for the communities they serve.
