The Front of House Supervisor will be responsible for one of the most important aspects of the island.

A high degree of customer care and focus is essential, along with the ability to manage and work with our tavern team and other members of staff.

Living and working on Lundy is a way of life and you may be invited to join either the auxiliary coastguard or the island fire fighting team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring that excellent levels of service are always delivered.
- Maintaining quality and presentation standards.
- Provide line management and support to general assistants.
- Ensure best practice and compliance with Health and Safety and food hygiene regulations.
- Training and mentoring new staff.
- Taking food orders, waiting on tables, washing up in the kitchen, serving in the bar.
- Resolving customer complaints satisfactorily, referring to the Island manager where necessary.
- Prepare all necessary banking and carry out stock takes as directed by the Island Manager.
- Ensure wherever possible that efficient working practices are carried out.

**Experience and Qualifications**:
Previous experience in a similar hospitality role is essential. You will have excellent customer service skills, good organisational skills and be a proactive team player. A current food hygiene certificate and personal licence are desirable.

**The Marisco Tavern**

The Tavern is the hub of island life, a wonderfully atmospheric place which conveys the rich interest of the island with a good selection of beers, wine and wholesome traditional pub fayre.

The Tavern caters for two types of visitor; The day visitor who usually sail on our ship “MS Oldenburg” and who arrives on the island at approx. 12 noon and stay for about four hours (we have up to four sailing days per week in peak summer months). We also have staying visitors who stay in our self catering holiday accommodation for between two days and one week duration. In the winter we operate a Helicopter Service for staying visitors only - flights are two days a week, generally Monday and Friday.

**Terms and Conditions**:
**Remuneration**: £21,786 per annum paid monthly inclusive of overtime, flexible working and holiday pay with pension provisions.

The overall benefits package also includes: Accommodation & utilities (see below). Ship and Helicopter transport to the island. Meals on duty whilst working in the Tavern.

There is a transport allowance to allow staff friends and family to visit them.

**Hours of work**: From 8am until 5pm. The tavern however works additional shifts as follows: - split shift, 8am until 2pm then 6pm until 9pm or 12pm until 9pm. All staff work five days out of seven on a rota basis. However, work on the Island is part of a way of life and all staff must expect to have to work outside of these hours as and when the need arises.

**Holidays**:The holiday entitlement is 28 days per annum inclusive of statutory holidays.

**Sick Pay**: During the first 52 weeks of employment or the probationary period whichever is the longer) you will be paid only your Statutory Sick Pay entitlement. After this period you may qualify to receive Company Sick Pay. The Statutory Sick Pay will be included in this sick pay. Sick pay may be prorated to your annual hours worked.

Where absence exceeds seven consecutive calendar days and in certain other circumstances, a doctor’s certificate will be required. You qualify for sick pay on your normal working days. Typically you will not qualify for Company Sick Pay if you are sick off season

**Accommodation**: Accommodation and utilities are provided including water, council tax and power. Cookers and refrigerators are provided. The electricity supply is limited and therefore no domestic equipment with heavy use of power may be brought to the Island. There is a small monthly charge for telephone extension and staff connect to the internet with their own 4G router. There are discounts available in the Tavern and Shop for all staff.

**General Information**:
Lundy is situated in the Bristol Channel some eleven miles off the North Devon coast. It is of granite and rises steeply out of the sea to a height of some 450 feet. It is 3.5miles long and 0.5mile wide and is mainly rough pasture and maritime heathland. There is no arable farming but there is a flock of ewes. There are wild sika deer, soay sheep and goats.

There is no indigenous population on Lundy. All Island residents living permanently on Lundy are employees of the Landmark Trust and currently consists of 26 people. During the season, the staff numbers are increased with seasonal staff and volunteers. Staff accommodation varies with one-to-two-bedroom properties, either stone-built or some properties in a timber-clad building known as Quarters.
