**Youth Worker - Programme Co-ordinator (Wheeled Sports Coach)**

To guide and support young people from areas of high deprivation, currently within South Leeds, in their holistic development, with the aim of helping them reach their full potential within society. This role will require you to predominately work with those between the ages of 9 and 19 in a variety of settings, including detached work, drop ins, sport & creative art sessions, trips, mentoring, community, school and residential environments. To undertake intergenerational and broader community work with a broad age range. To bring your work experience and passion to make a difference in the lives of young people and the communities that they live in. This role will also require you to assist the Chief Operations Officer and CEO in co-ordinating the delivery across South Leeds of Enhanced Youth Work.

We are specifically looking for a Youth Worker who has a strong relationship with wheeled sports and a capacity to support the coaching of Skateboarding / Scooter / Quad or Inline Skates or BMXing.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**

As a youth, community & sports worker you will need to:

- Establish positive relationship with young people and those within the community.
- Assess the needs and support individuals and groups within a variety of settings.
- Be a positive role model for those within the local community (lead by example).
- Write and deliver programmes, covering areas such as: confidence and aspirations; sexual health and relationships; violence and anger management; alcohol and substance use/abuse; life skill development; educational opportunity, educational development & emotional literacy, teamwork & leadership.
- Prep, plan and run sports-based activities, community projects, residential activities, outdoor education, trips and fundraising events.
- To help identify, mentor, coach and support individuals, and encourage greater social inclusion.
- Build relationship and work effectively with other organisations that have been identified by Reestablish, towards community transformation.
- Work with parents/guardians and community groups to win support for improved provision, and act as an advocate for young people’s interests.
- Support, mentor and help develop young leaders, volunteers and sessional staff.
- Attend and contribute to multi agency and funding or development meetings when required.
- Regularly monitor and review the quality of the work that we deliver; and write any required reports.
- Undertake administrative tasks, maintain effective recording systems, and risk assessments, keep good time management and attend team and appraisal meetings when required.
- Attend training and development opportunities, maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safe guarding, health and safety and first aid.
- Support other team members in their roles as sessional workers, volunteers, or young leaders.
- To lead the team and sessions on the ground when the Team Leader & Development Manager is not around.
- Report to the Team Leader & Development Manager/ Trustees when required.
- Help develop Reestablish social media presents & technologies.
- Carry out other tasks as directed from time to time, according to the needs of the project.
**Pay Scale/Salary & Working Hours**

Working hours are yet to be confirmed as this is a new programme however it will largely be early evening and weekend work. At a grade of £20500 - £23000 depending on experience and qualification.

- You will need to show a strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives and the lives of those who live in challenging areas of society.
- The ability to provide reliable support to young people in times of stress and act with integrity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish good relationships with young people and those within the community.
- The ability to lead a team of sessional works, volunteers and young leaders.
- Patience, tolerance and flexibility.
- A sense of adventure and a willingness to try new things.
- Appropriate administrative and communication skills for administrative duties and meetings.
- To be computer literate and able to write reports and deliver presentations when necessary.
- The ability to treat others concerns with respect and sensitivity, whilst being aware of confidentiality and the law.
- Have an understanding of child protection and working with vulnerable adults.
- To be trustworthy and willing to lead by example.
- A desire to positively make a difference in other people’s lives.
- Have good time management skills.
- Have an interest in the delivery of wheeled sports specifically, wider sports and creative activities.
- A full UK driving licence is essential for this role, ideally with access to own car.
