**Brief Description**:
**About the function
**System Operator are passionate about capacity. We craft tomorrow's railway to meet future needs of the rail industry. By understanding what the future requirements of the railway are, we can plan the long-term capability of the network, promoting the efficient use of network capacity. We improve the railway for the millions of people who use it every single day.

**Who are we looking for?**

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with wide ranging experience in business administration, good understanding of UK geography and keen to learn all aspects of planning on the railway.

You will use your experience to produce documents that support major engineering work planned within industry timescales, whilst we can tech you the technical skills a good eye for detail and excellent stakeholder management is essential criteria for the role.

**About the role (External)**:
**What does the average day look like?***

In this role you will support System Operator teams in the formation and facilitation of cross industry groups to maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships, providing data and information as required. You will act as document controller to manage the creation, version and change control of a portfolio of route plans that reflect asset policies, and align to utilisation strategies and other industry plans. This includes producing necessary documentation to support capacity study analysis taking into account the existing capability, contractual & regulatory obligations, and the implications of expected future traffic levels upon the GB Rail Network. Day to day collating data and provide analytical expertise to System Operator in support of the review of new franchise specifications and revised franchise requirements. This also includes monitoring and auditing internal processes to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to process owners.

- Knowledge and understanding of the rail industry
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to interrogate and utilise data systems

**Duration**:Permanent

**Location**: This role is based at Quadrant:MK. For roles based in the Quadrant:MK, you must live within 75/90 minutes of The Quadrant.

**Band & Salary: Band 5 £26,000**
