**Job Summary**

The post-holder will be responsible for providing a youth work/mentoring service to a caseload of young people every 6 months, primarily focused on promoting positive mental health. They will work closely with young people and partner agencies to identify suitable progression routes and development opportunities that focus on supporting young people including but not limited to; health and wellbeing, life skills and education and employability. Young people referred may be experiencing poor levels of mental health, low mood and anxiety.

Other responsibilities will include:

- Work alongside external partner agencies to support a young person - including CAMHS, NHS etc.
- Meet with the young person and co-design a personal plan based around Goal Based Outcomes
- Develop positive relationships with young people through a variety of youth work styles/methodologies
- Support young people to access internal and external programmes in line with their needs
- Liaise with project leads to ensure young people are fully supported within their chosen programmes including support with resources
- Deliver mental wellbeing support for young people and manage a caseload, providing support at suitable times for the referral either face-to-face or virtually
- Develop and promote support for parents/guardians/carers so that they feel more confident in supporting their child/young person with their mental health and wellbeing
- Establish, maintain and develop effective partnership working with stakeholders including relevant external agencies and organisations
- Complete monitoring, evaluation and session recordings using internal systems, including contributing to the project monthly reports as directed by project coordinator
- Ensure that all delivery, for which you are responsible, complies with all health and safety and safeguarding requirements including the production of individual risk assessments
- Attend all scheduled supervision, meetings and training events

**Job Requirements**

**_
Essential_**
- A minimum level 2 in Youth Work, Mentoring and Safeguarding qualification or equivalent (willingness to work towards Level 3)
- Youth MHFA Certificate or equivalent
- Experience in 1-2-1 work/mentoring
- Experience of partnership/inter-agency working as part of a team around complex young people
- Working towards a young person-centred approach, putting young people first
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Proficient at log and report writing
- A true passion and interest in developing and supporting young people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and engage with young people
- The ability to listen non-judgmentally and remain open-minded to the individual’s situation
- A flexible approach towards working practice and working hours
- Commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and inclusivity
- An understanding of the issues and barriers impacting young people, especially those impacted by the pandemic
- Able to travel across south London to carry out community outreach work
- Willingness to work towards relevant qualifications as required

- Knowledge of Trauma informed practice
- Knowledge of Mental Health interventions
- Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Experience of managing a caseload of individuals
- Experience of working with young people with mental health needs
- Possess clean driving licence
- Experience of using data management systems
- Full driving licence
