**About the role**:
As a Delay Attribution Controller, you’ll be key in meticulously investigating of incidents attributed to Northern under the delay attribution process. Tasked with ensuring thorough examination on day one, you’ll play a pivotal role for maintaining service integrity and accountability. Your commit to ensuring accuracy is key in obtaining evidence for precise attribution of delay incidents.

Beyond investigations, you’ll serve as a specialist advisor in providing essential guidance to the Control Team, on performance regime matters. During service disruptions, you’ll proactively manage & support the team; ensuring strategic decision align with the complexities of the rail industry. As well as negotiating with Network Rail control and collaborating with the Data Quality Manager.

Your expertise will extend to analysing delay causes, formulating action plans and producing insightful performance reports. By identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, you’ll be contributing to the continuous enhancement of operational efficiency.

**Key responsibilities**:
In the Delay Attribution Controller role, you can expect a role where each day bring new challenges and opportunities to make a difference. Here is a glimpse at what that might look like:

- Leading real-time performance investigations to ensure accurate attribution of TRUST delay incidents.
- Negotiating with Network Rail Controls for precise attribution.
- Providing specialist advice on performance regimes to support the operations team.
- Proactively managing severe service disruptions and aiding in the recovery process.
- Monitoring Network Rail's TRUST system and collaborating with the Data Quality Manager for accurate data input.
- Analysing delay causes, recommending action plans, and producing performance reports.
- Inputting entries into the daily Events Log and providing necessary training and mentoring.
- Producing and delivering projects as required.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate individuals.
- Strong communication and persuasive attributes combined with patience and the ability to make timely decisions.
- Strong IT skills with a proactiveness to learn the railway industry mainframe and micro systems.
- A strong understanding of customers’ needs, excellence in Customer Service, and an understanding of the issues faced by front line staff.
- Financial, commercial and contractual awareness.
- An understanding of train crew conditions of service and the rostering process (desirable)
- Knowledge of the working railway, with particular emphasis on passenger train operations and incident management (desirable)
- Knowledge of Rules, Regulations and Safety Instructions relating to the operation of passenger trains using both diesel and electrical multiple units (desirable)
- Knowledge of railway geography and infrastructure within the Northern Rail area of operations (desirable)
- Knowledge of the Performance and Service Quality Regimes.

You’ll also be able to work shift patterns including early mornings, evening, night shifts and weekend work.
