**Job summary**:
Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe and environmentally sustainable energy supply. We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers, and great for the environment.

In these roles, you’ll join our Compliance and Enforcement Profession, working as a Compliance and Enforcement Investigator. This covers a variety of stimulating, challenging work, including - leading on energy supplier/scheme participants data analysis, assessing their financial resilience and/or scheme compliance, delivering compliance projects, contributing to investigations, engaging with stakeholders and contributing to the development of our processes.

Being part of the profession also gives you the chance to work on cross-Ofgem projects and across different teams where your skillset is in demand. What’s more, your work will help deliver a greener, fairer energy system for the whole of the UK.

The teams and directorates you could join include:

- Retail directorate: this directorate focuses on regulatory and compliance issues across the retail energy market, ensuring the best outcomes for consumers.
- Enforcement team: this team protects consumer interests through investigations and the use of Ofgem’s formal powers, including financial penalties.
- Delivery and Schemes Directorate: this directorate makes sure energy suppliers provide a range of social and environmental programmes to energy consumers.

To join us, you’ll need experience in gathering, analysing and interpreting complex data and information. You should also have strong forensic and investigation skills and a proven track record in delivering at pace for consumers, communities or society in general. Along with a genuine interest in energy, you’ll be able to interpret legislation and regulations, engage effectively with stakeholders and confidently manage projects.

We’re also looking for people with great communication, collaboration, and organisational skills. Some experience in a regulated sector and an understanding of corporate finance is desirable, but not essential.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.

**Job description**:
After the initial deployment, you will be expected to work flexibly across Ofgem as a member of the Compliance & Enforcement Profession, working on cross-Ofgem projects, and/or in teams where you have in-demand specialist skills or expertise.

**_ Delivery & Schemes_**

Ofgem delivers renewable energy and social programmes on behalf of government - this is done through the Delivery and Schemes Directorate. These schemes are varied - covering renewable heat, renewable electricity, energy efficiency and fuel poverty - collectively, they are worth £9bn a year. And crucially, these schemes are critical to hitting our Net Zero goals and providing support for households.

The work involved varies - from running the numbers to ensure that suppliers pay the right amount into the Feed-In-Tariff schemes; to checking the different measures suppliers are submitting for approval to meet their ECO obligation or to investigating what is really happening at a renewable heat installation. Through this work, we ensure that consumers and participants get the support they need, without consumers and taxpayers paying more than they should be.

**_ Retail Compliance_**

Our Retail Compliance team leads on regulatory and compliance issues covering the retail energy market and consumers. Your focus will be on ensuring that suppliers are well and efficiently run and deliver good outcomes for consumers, putting things right where they have gone wrong. In addition to our teams looking after the main consumer protections, we also have specialist compliance teams focused on suppliers’ financial health and resilience and the delivery of smart meters.

**_ Enforcement_**

In the Enforcement Team we investigate & enforce energy companies’ compliance with the terms of their licence, energy regulations, Competition Law & Consumer Protection Law, fo
