**Job summary**:
UK Strategic Command (UK StratCom) Investigations Team positions are part of the Principal Security Advisor (PSyA) department of a busy 4*Headquarters. The demanding and operational nature of the Headquarters means that this role will require a significant level of flexibility and professionalism.

UK StratCom is one of the four front line military commands (alongside Navy, Army, and Air Force) which conducts joint operations and generates, develops, and manages key enablers. It has approximately 22,500 military and civilian personnel deployed across the UK and worldwide. UK StratCom is a 4* HQ and a Top Level Budget (TLB), tasked with developing and preparing an integrated Joint Force for current and future operations. It has a unique structure, with a small Headquarters that works above, and with, a number of subordinate organisations, including Permanent Joint Headquarters, Defence Intelligence, Defence Digital and MOD A Block. UK StratCom also has management and operational responsibility for the Overseas Bases of Gibraltar, Cyprus, the South Atlantic Islands, British Indian Overseas Territory and British Defence Support Unit Singapore.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
The UK Strategic Command Security Investigator will deliver response to and, investigation of security breaches, taking an investigative role for assigned cases, including unauthorised disclosures of information.

The role of the investigator will include contributing to the development of a counter-security breach strategy; analysis/ lessons learned; internal and external reporting; and response and coordination across Strategic Command.

UK (and possibly overseas) Travel and a high level of flexibility will be required to support the outputs of the team.

The position is based at Northwood and attracts the relevant recruitment and retention allowance. Hybrid and Flexible Working are available but time in the office is required. This will generally be a 60-40 split with 3 days in the office and 2 days per week WFH. Wherever travel is required flexibility can be applied.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Conduct a range of complex security investigations.
- Gather, verify and assess all appropriate and available information to gain an accurate understanding of situations to an agreed case investigation plan.
- Develop and evaluate strategies to manage investigations, working closely and communicating with staff at all levels.
- Analyse and interpret data, examine records and documents presenting the information accurately for use within investigations.
- Prepare, complete and submit accurate reports to the highest professional standard and within set time limits to the Senior Investigator.
- Handle, store and dispose of document / exhibits in accordance with MoD Policy.
- Conduct interviews and record statements in line with DSR Policy.
- Support the preparation of reports on the outcome of investigations and the management of case files and disclosure within best practice procedures to ensure there is an accurate audit trail.
- Provide the customer with a final report providing a view on liability and lessons learned.
- Develop lessons learned arising from investigations, reporting these to the appropriate MOD policy team.

All members of the team will be expected to develop their professional skills on investigation and analysis, including the development of expertise necessary to advise on technical and policy adjustments to reduce the incidence, or facilitate the investigation, of serious security incidents.

All investigations are to be conducted in accordance with investigative best practice standards and within MOD Policy.

**Person specification**:
The successful applicant will have a background in investigative work with demonstrable experience as an investigator.

The post holder will be required to prioritise effectively and manage a heavy case load and high volume of throughput, whilst balancing business needs.

The post holder must be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work with mínimal supervision and to manage their own workload.

The post holder will be able to deliver concise and unambiguous reports to a readership up to 2* level.
