The purpose of this role is to directly enable the delivery of any allocated programmes and be accountable for the achievement of programme objectives and benefits realisation.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that their portfolio of Trust-level, complex programmes deliver a sufficient Benefits Profile to meet the Trust’s strategic objectives and sustainability requirements. This will be through taking responsibility to support and challenge project and programme teams to maximise benefits delivery through offering expert advice and utilising programme management methodologies. Programmes may be clinical or non-clinical and cover a variety of deliverables, including cultural change, operational performance, financial performance, service issues and clinical quality improvement.

The post holder will provide line management responsibilities within the team ensuring effective ways of working at all times. They will also be responsible for facilitating progress and providing practical support to the teams impacted on by the programmes to ensure benefits delivery.

The post holder will work as a key advisor to Sponsors and Senior Sponsors on allocated programmes, ensuring that high quality programme management is in place.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure that:

- Programmes under their portfolio (agreed by the Trust Board and its sub-committees) achieve their objectives by supporting Programme Teams and Sponsors in the execution of their duties,
- PMO sanctioned Programme Frameworks are in place and that all assigned programmes adhere to these frameworks by advising on modifications where necessary,
- Information about programme progress and good practice is disseminated through relevant channels throughout the Trust and externally,
- Appropriate and proactive action is taken to address areas of significant underperformance against objectives through monitoring and governing remedial actions,
- Benefits derived from programmes are tracked, counted and reported in a timely manner,
- Risks to programme delivery are identified and mitigated

The post holder will be required to work at all NUH campuses, off site venues and flexibly as required for the role. Occasionally the post holder may need to work out of core hours (including weekends and evenings) as required by the project/programmes. Working from home options may be available.

The TPMO covers both Programme Delivery and Programme Solutions and is responsible for providing a full programme management function to NUH.
