Biologics Co-ordinator, Band 3- Rheumatology (25 hours a week)
The role of the biologics co-ordinator is to ensure all patients on high-cost biologic drugs are dealt with appropriately from an administrative point of view. This involves preparation and distribution of prescriptions to the clinical team and keeping the DAWN database up to date ensuring any changes to these prescriptions are recorded and updated appropriately.
To liaise with our pharmacy department and to be the point of contact for biologic patients. Also working closely with the clinical team to ensure that all patients are tracked through each stage of their pathway to provide an efficient and professional service. This role will also involve the audit of newly diagnosed rheumatoid patients from their diagnosis and their ongoing pathway.
The recording of our biologics patients is a crucial part of the rheumatology department and this is an area which will only continue to grow.
Rheumatology is a fast moving specialty with the commitment to patient care. The team are patient focused and we strive to provide a good working environment along with support from all areas of the team.
On a day-to-day basis manage your own workload, prioritise your work to ensure deadlines are met with mínimal supervision.
- Be flexible with the workload and the demands of the service.
- Be proficient in the use of the Trust Software.
- To have a close working relationship with Consultants, Registrars, Nursing Team, Pharmacy and Medical Secretaries to ensure when changes are made to a patients’ biologic treatment all parties are informed.
- To support the biologics services ensuring all prescriptions are up to date distributed for completion in a timely manner.
- To work with the DAWN co-ordinator and be a proficient user of the DAWN system.
- To have a good knowledge of all biologic patients.
- To collate information from the Early Arthritis Clinics to enable an efficient and up to date ongoing audit with regard to newly diagnosed patients in keeping with the NEIAA guidelines.
