**Where in the world of OVO will I be working?**

The Head of Business Partnering will be a member of OVO's Finance Leadership team with a number of direct reports. The role will be pivotal in the engagement between key senior business stakeholders and the wider finance team. The role will:
(i) partner with the executive team to drive cost leadership,

(ii) build and take ownership for ensuring return on investment in capital allocation decisions (including appraising tech & product spend pre and post-investment),

(iii) work with the business to develop operating and capital expenditure forecasts (both in year and longer term), and

(iii) keep the executive team and their direct reports informed of performance against objectives and advise on optimisation and course correction opportunities as they arise.

The OVO finance team consists of around 130 people and is split into three pillars:
Pillar 1: Foundations,

Pillar 2: Business partnering, and

Pillar 3: Strategic & corporate finance

This role will sit in Pillar 2 as the head of finance business partnering. The role reports into the VP of Finance (who is the leader of pillar 2), who in turn reports into the CFO. Also in Pillar 2 sits the 'source to pay' team (which isn't under the remit of this position).

The finance business partnering team works closely with the following finance teams: FP&A, source to pay, management accounting, and commercial finance.

**What will I be doing?**

You will manage a team of business partners in providing strategic and analytical support to senior business leaders. You'll ultimately be responsible for driving cost leadership across the OVO business. In addition, you'll be responsible for supporting the professional development of the business partnering team including reviewing potential and capabilities across the team to support the team's continued growth and development.

The remit of the finance business partnering team includes:
**Interpretation and analysis**
- Working collaboratively with the OVO leadership team in understanding and interpreting financial results, and providing insight into how results impact the forward looking cost base
- Preparing for and presenting at the monthly business review on cost outlooks, alongside the Management Accounting team who will present the outcome of the actual results for the month.
- Working collaboratively with senior business leaders to prepare analysis to support financial decision making. This is both as requested by the business, and also ad hoc where the business partnering team spots potential opportunities.

**Budgeting process & course correction**
- Working with the business through the semi-annual budgeting process, helping to drive accurate and ambitious cost and payroll forecasts. Note: the ownership for translating business inputs into an overall financial forecast sits separately with the FP&A team. Through this process the business partnering team will ensure that the business' budgets are both robust and cost efficient.
- Working with the people partnering team on production and delivery of company wide resource plans.
- Working with the business through annual medium term strategic outlook processes to develop 3-5 year forecasts, and in particular supporting business leaders to develop industry leading team structures which allow for outstanding operational leverage.
- Advising the business on course correction if actual costs stray from budget, including working with the OVO leadership team to devise plans to converge back to budget.
- Understands and devises opportunities for cost base improvements, and presents these to the finance leadership team and the OVO leadership team.

**Investment appraisal & cost governance**
- Owning and managing the investment appraisal process, including business casing, pre-investment appraisal and post-investment reviews. Setting return on investment hurdles and ensuring cost governance over material projects.
