Cancer Pathway Tracker

Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Division of Cancer Services. We are looking to recruit a proactive individual to join the team, providing support to MDT co-ordinators.

The post holder must have NHS experience and knowledge of cancer targets would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given. Must have excellent organizational skills, a high level of competency in using Microsoft Office and all trust IT systems.

The Cancer Tracker will use their knowledge of the patient cancer pathway to proactively influence patients tracking records. They will be required to expedite appointments or procedures as necessary and to resolve issues which could lead to the patient’s treatment being delayed and failure of national cancer services targets.

They will review the patient’s pathway on an ongoing basis, uploading any
information onto electronic systems to ensure other members of the cancer services team are aware of the current status of the patient and the cause for any delays in their pathway.

They will be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with the members of the cancer services team, in particular MDT coordinators, consultants, CNS’s and Trust managers.

The post holder will have no direct patient contract, they will have a responsibility for liaising with internal and external departments to manage and facilitate the cancer tracking process whilst the Tracker will work independently, they will work within a wider team consisting of MDT Coordinators and the Cancer Services Manager, who they will be able to access for advice when needed.

He/she/they may be required to provide cover for when MDT Coordinators are on leave, however they will be supported by a “buddy” network of other MDT Coordinators whom they can seek advice and support.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
