An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for a 12 month secondment to cover maternity.


The post holder will provide specialist advice and support to patients and their carers throughout their care pathway, as well as providing education and support to staff throughout the trust. The post holder will work with the consultant team as well as delivering nurse led services for patients with HPB cancers . The specialist nursing team is a progressive, dynamic team, keen to build our research capability, be leaders in cancer care and at the forefront of delivering outstanding care to our patients.


We are seeking highly motivated nurses with HPB and/or cancer care knowledge and experience at Band 6 or above, confident decision-making skills, excellent communicator, innovative and with a passion to always improve.
Leads the development of patientfocused education, including training toself-manage ongoing consequences oftreatment.
Actively participates in multi-professionalmeetings, acting as patient advocate andrepresenting nursing views.


~ Takes personal responsibility for lifelong learning and personal developmentthrough clinical supervision, appraisaland maintaining compliance with Trustmandatory training.

To develop patient pathways and be responsible fordeveloping the nursing serviceTo participate in quality initiatives within the division.Work with the Multidisciplinary team to ensure that yourcancer service complies with the national standards forsafety and quality, which are assessed throughNational Cancer Peer Review Process and activelycontribute with work plans.Degree in healthcare related subject
Post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant specialist subject
Advanced Communications Skills training or prepared to work towards
Psychological skills training- Level 2 or above
Substantial nursing experience post registration
Substantial experience in HPB oncology
Experience of writing policies and procedures
