Industria Personnel are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients for a Senior Buyer / Category Manager on a permanent basis based in Coleshill.

As Senior Buyer / Category Manager, your role will be to support the procurement and supply chain process. Build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate and search for better deals and to find more profitable suppliers.

You will work closely with internal teams to problem solve and deal with queries to ensure the customer experience is second to none.

Your duties will include:

- Maintaining knowledge of competitors to strategically position their products and services better
- Provide first class service and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times whilst keeping the customer/supplier fully informed
- To oversee the enhancement of the overall customer experience by ensuring the team provide accurate and quick responses to enquiries
- Supporting with updated costs and alternatives, ensuring customer order books are maintained and accurate
- To provide pricing, lead-times and any relevant information related to new enquiries including Tenders and RFPs/RFQs
- Ensure information is given within the customer’s timeframe and that all sourcing options are explored thoroughly
- Build strong supplier relationships, consolidate where relevant and drive through cost savings to increase overall margin and improve payment terms for cash flow
- Assist the Purchasing & Product Development Manager in monitoring and auditing supplier performance, using tools such as SHEQ, score cards and supplier reviews
- Identify who the key suppliers are and carry out regular supplier reviews
- Oversee that enquiries, quotations, orders and complaints are processed within 24 hours or as agreed, this is supported by the Purchasing Coordinator
- Guide, mentor and train the Purchasing Coordinator
- Manage department in the absence of the Purchasing and Product Development Manager
- Creating new accounts
- Build in contingency and dual source options if required - minimises risk and failure to supply
- Verify that Goods In has given 100% acceptance on goods received in full and as specified through SHEQ and X Book
- Project plan new projects - discussing operations with customers and internal teams to achieve the most effective way of working with new projects, meeting the demands in the industry ensuring the best service is being offered
- To create and maintain Purchasing and Product Development dashboards
- Produce reports for the management team as required
- Assist the supplier approval process to ensure consistency in delivery and quality
- Maintain and update company records to ensure they remain ISO compliant
- Facilitate strategic customer and supplier meetings
- Identifying quality standards and ensuring that all products meet those standards
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
- Develop creative and innovative procurement processes
- To undertake any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and ensure the best customer experience is achieved
- Technical support - supporting internal and external customers with any technical, industry and product queries

No Qualifications required for this role, further on the job training on company policies and procedures will be given

Working hours: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
- Must have previous experience within supply chain(2 Years +)
- Knowledge of telecommunications products and industry would be a strong advantage but not essential
- Tenacious, proactive, ambitious and results driven
- Comfortable making own decisions
- Experience of managing/overseeing a team
- Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem solving capabilities
- Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
- Excellent supply chain and product planning knowledge
- An understanding of supply chain management and logistics
- Good understanding of H&S compliance
- Intermediate level in Microsoft Excel
- Good time management skills, able to cope under pressure in a busy and fast paced reactive environment
- Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience of delivering the best customer experience
- Working proactively to KPI targets and deadlines
