We have a great opportunity for a Materials Buyer to join our team at Countryside Partnerships South West Midlands, at our Coleshill office. As our Materials Buyer you will be responsible for negotiating and securing materials and plant on time and to specification, for the best possible value, whilst maintaining the necessary standards and quality required to ensure company targets and objectives are met.

- Previous experience and knowledge of procurement within Housing/Construction sector is essential
- Experience in working for a contractor in a buying role
- Commercial awareness.
- A good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
- Good knowledge of construction method and materials
- Interpersonal skills, particularly in negotiating.
- Ability to make decisions.
- Ability to cope with pressure.
- Strong Mathematical and IT ability. Good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages
- Ability to assess and analyse information
- Good Commercial awareness

- Placement of Material Orders in accordance with budget, specification and programme constraints,
- Liaise with our Group Supply Chain and other Material Suppliers, promoting the best interests of Vistry
- Assisting estimating in the preparation of tenders.
- Production of buying reports detailing profit/loss against allowance.
- Obtaining data for sustainability reporting.
- Carrying value engineering exercises against specified materials.
- Preparation of Material Suppliers database and updating.
- Assistance in the preparation of O&M Manuals and plot handover packs.
- Any other reasonable buying related tasks as directed by line manager or referred to in the Buying Procedure Manual.
